at work place or in interactions with others, do some people like to get negative attention, on purpose?
are such people unable to realize that seeking negative attention, lessens their credibility?

Some people think ANY attention is better than NO attention. Those people who will do absolutely ANYTHING to get attention are really insecure, extremely arrogant and lack respect for themselves or others.

Everybody loves to be recognized for good things, but truly confident ones do not need acknowledgement from others.

Totally agree. i knew this person who would go to extremes as long as she got the attention she wanted, even if it meant inconvenience for others. i think that is so selfish.

negative attention does few things:

  1. lessens the credibility
  2. it has short timespan, after the attention, due to anger/frustration/negativity, the spotlight moves on and doesnt focus them any more
  3. provides soothing feeling for people who WANNA feel that way
  4. works best if this IS what people want.. (for distraction)

i guess, sometimes its necessary :slight_smile: for the problem in hand to be solved, other times, well the person IS screwed-case..
