Needs

Do needs change with location? Or are they wants?

Re: Needs

Yes. Needs may or may not change with location. It depends on many factors like distance, climate, society, availability resources and public amenities, public administration, politics etc

If you relocate at outskirt or satellite town of your city, you may need a bike to reach workplace in time. Todays life is so busy that you cannot revert to bicycle or public transport in such situation. If you go for public transport, you may have to walk barefoot some distance, you may have to change many in course and some like rikshaws take time because they will run only when required number of passengers are seated also you have to wait for next public transport facility, this could cause loss of time. As opposed to this, if you live in city, you may no longer need a bike.
We know that need of food, cloths changes as we move from one climatic region to another.
We often desire more than what is necessary- many a time to make things more efficient, to reduce time, or for comfort. This we may call “want”. We see sometimes want becomes need and vice versa. If some woman lives in a society/locality where crime rate against women is alarmingly high the she would need self defense training, pepper powder and even need electronic gadgets like cell phone/smart phone. You see administration imparts martial arts training, issues safety guidelines, conducts seminars and programs, run helpline service in such areas.

Those who are wanty have wants

needs change. location or not.

Re: Needs

Refer to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, it is not a perfect model but better than nothing. We have a need to be accepted and validated so if people around you change you might need to change in order to belong. Beyond food, shelter, security everything is a want.
