okay so everyone interested in this needs to start doing up some reading. theres a number of different sub-problems here.
a) Do background reading of conventional think tanks to get a general view of the field
Theres a number of texts on this online, two of which I pointed out in the post earlier. One is a pdf file that we can purchase and read through. We can use the parameters they’ve used and the measures of influence they’ve devised to figure out our own
b) Do Internet searches for more relevant think tanks for us
The main aspects we wanted to look at were i) the efficacy of internet based think tanks and ii) the amount of change exerted by think tanks in general the third world. These are two different things. So I did a few google searches. Heres a few that I think are useful
Using these searches we can try and find good matches of Think Tanks to profile.
Then I found this site that is the “Directory of Think Tanks” and classifies them according to region. This lists the more prominent think thanks in the world. We could pick the ones that are of regions of interest to us, and then go at them in more depth.

Now we need to figure out who does what. This is just a step, we have to start reading start collecting info before we figure out exactly more specifically what we want to write about.

good work guys, I am really looking at you to push this and get people involved again and excited..our diversity in views is such a strength because we would not fall for biased reports or studies and could really look at varied perspectives.
I promised you guys a seperate subdomain under paklinks, with capability for file sharing etc, and am ready to do that as we start.

So far we have the following people willing to put in time into this:
Haris, Fraudia, Cool Breeze, ravage.
Clearly 4 people maketh not the think tank :D. this isnt enough for the long term but we could go ahead and start. What do you think, do you figure we should go ahead or should we contact more people?
If the fabulous 4 here agree that we should just start then be prepared to do a lot of reading each :)

to refresh everyone's memory and so ppl dont have to search thru the thread, could u post again the approach and goal etc. so as ppl start checking in again we are all on the same page.
for starters te more structured it is the better i.e. do this and this by such and such date and regroup etc.
