Needed some advice on right course of action

I am sorry I am not sure if this is the right section for this, but since it says ‘Life’ and relationships I figured I can post this here.

One of my teachers from high school got in touch with me out of the blue after 10 years and I was saddened to find that he is suffering from a difficult health situation that requires an expensive medical procedure in pakistan. He found it very difficult to explain that he was falling short of funds to finance his operation, but he got the point across.

I have known him to be a dedicated teacher and I want to reach out to my classmates to help him out, but (sad as it is) a nagging voice from the back of my head wants me to oversee all the funds handed over to the hospital so that every one is at peace that the money is not misused or unaccounted for. If I were in Pakistan, I would have personally ensured this but sitting far away on the other side of the globe, I am wondering what is the best way to go about this? None of my classmates are in Pakistan atm. I don’t want my lack of trust get in the way of helping someone.

Re: Needed some advice on right course of action

Do you have any trustworthy relatives in Pak that can make sure the funds are handed over to the hospital or even delivered to your teacher?

Re: Needed some advice on right course of action

Most of the people I really trust are living abroad, is there a way to set up a fund or something in Pakistan? Like a trust account (I really have no idea). Just want to make sure that everyone involved knows the paper trail for everything so they don't back off due to misgivings. I also want to learn about how these things are done correctly so I can use this experience to ensure I can do it again for anyone in the future if need arises without having to rely on a particular individual.
