Thank you GS for the message. I have been really bussy these days so could not get back to you earlier.
Well This topic has been discussed in detail last year. I think thats before your registration and I have given some suggestion there including the split of Poetry forum in two sections.
here is the link. I recomend you go through each post and you will get some good suggestions.
Well, It is really nice to see that finally this forum has got some active moderation and I hope you do good with it. and please whatever you do dont let it die for another time.
Some Tips:
Install any free “rate this page” script in poetry section. User will rate the poem and the poem with best rating will be the poem of the month.
Or May be we could use the “Poll” system. If I want to add my poem in the competition. I will start a Poll. With follwoing options
Poor
Average
Good
Best
Excellent
and assign them a weight of 1-5. Multiply the total weight with the number of votes and you will get the winner.
Well for the time being I could only come up with this.

First of all let me say this is a great idea aur Allah hum sab ko achey ideas ki taufeek aata karta rahe ( agar rozana naheen tou khabi khabi hi sahi )
I have read all the coments and ideas writen by fellow members, Though aapni aapni jagha sabhi theek kehte hain ideas bure naheen, magar to keep things simple here I blive we should let the MOD decide. Ya phir hum aysa kar sakte hain ke sabhi members in the reply comments leave a Star rating of 1-5 and at the end of the month higest star count wins the award of BEST OF THE MONTH. ( as the idea also coined by CHoudhry Touseef ) but we can keep it simple and user friendly by just leaving the rating in the reply.
… wese I still blive that we should leave to the MOD it keeps things simple.

Well Hammad, My experience tells me that People wont feel comfortable typing the rating in most of the cases as it tells you that touseef gave you a poor rating of 1 and bichu an excellent rating of 5 as every one has different perceptions and I may not like what others. So that may create a bad image for me at the back of your mind. The reason I insist a "Poll" is because it is transparent. I can give my rating very comfortably.
Now here comes an another added advantage of it. You will get a figure for each poll thread. And the pros sitting here in this forum may like to use that figure to have a separate section of all the selected poems/gazals. I said earlier in some thread that it is a great misfortune that we lose so many golden threads. People sign up here every once in a while and they do visit this section. There is no way they could find out the remarkable poetry by GS members. As a matter of fact we have had a gem of a poet 'Amal'. I know that he existed in the GS a while back so I can search to read his poetry still it's very hard to dig out what you exactly want through a regular forum search. But think from a new comers perspective. He may never get to read Amal's stuff. Too bad for Amal by losing an other sincere fan and too bad for the user to not to read some real food for thought.
So here are few more thoughts for GS and Admin.
This is the only creative forum we have in GS. right? and only If it could be managed properly it can generate a lot of traffic as there’s nothing which can replace fresh creative content. I am happy that after quite some time and losing few very senior poets GS admin finally appointed a Mod who seems to be the one. I appreciate your efforts Golden Bichu :~) But it needs a little more than that.
1) Have this piece of the month thingy going either thru polls, committee or moderation.
2) Have a sub section of "favorites, or aaap ki pasand" and transfer all the pieces of the month threads, runner ups and what you think deserve to that section. (You will have at least 4 creative pieces each month in it and new users will be able to see remarkable poetry of GS members. After each year publish these gems in the form of an electronic book. :D Now As a poet it will be an honor for me to be part of that book. It will also help me to increase my fan club before the actual printed version of my stuff.
(To stuff this section, you can get the help from some senior guppies to select their all time favorites)
well idea is good n very encouraging ...but the problem izz how to poll...i agree wid choudhry bhai but again staisfaction of the contestnts is the problem...khair keep coming up wid more ideas INshallah there wud come out a better way

shora e gupshup per bhee koi professional shaair nahi hain itnay k professional critics kee zaroorat ho...i feel yahan post kee gaee poetry ko jitnay sada tareeqay say assess kia jaye utna accha hay....ziadah complex n comprehensive assessment iss liye munasib nahi ga kyon k yaha sub mostly mashghalay k taur per shairi kertay hain and no one iss a full time shaair........kHAYAAL ko agar ziadah tawwaja dee jaye aur anzdaz e bayan matlab kitnee asaanee say woh baat keh dee gaee hay toa mera khayaal hay iss main koi burai nahihay.....assessment process per jitni bahais kee jaye gee yeh idea implimentation say utni door jata jaye ga.......besides meray khayaal main agar number of responses to one poem/ghazal ko as weightage k taur per istaal kia jaye toa bhee kafi munasib aur sehel ho ga assess ker na .....
I am really thankful to all of you for taking interest in the idea. I feel lucky to have very good guppies at poetry.
I have been reading all the ideas and inputs and Inshalalh we will come up to something, we still have two days to Put the Topic on so Inshallah along with the Topic I will post the Procedure of the VOTE as well.
I am not saying that our procedure will be the perfect one but I would say we always have the space of improvement, and if we cant have good system in place for this FIRST month, inshallah we will improve it for next time.
I am sure all of you will be positng your Ideas and coments, belive me its making my JOB easy coz I am surrounded by very good, innovative and active guppies.
Let me assure one thing, Inshallah your good ideas and inputs will always be considered on POETRY FORUM, and I will be always needing those.
