We’re hosting an engagement party for around 120 people (close family and really close mutual friends), and I don’t really want to set aside a budget for invitation cards for something like an engagement (I don’t want a mini-wedding lol). I’m wondering if its tacky if we do a Facebook event (RSVP’ing is easy too?) and maybe do some calling around for the family members who aren’t on social media. Is it tacky? has anyone tried this before, and was it a success?
I’ve never hosted a party this large, so the guest-list dynamics make me shudder.:hinna:
Re: Need your opinion guys…
Yes, its no big deal at all! Its also becoming very common esp for smaller events. I have gotten a few facebook invites to engagements and last month even to a last minute wedding. Im noticing that many people are also opting for e-vites as well.
Im not saying dont get wedding cards bc i deff think those are important…but theyre also a big hassle esp getting them from pakistan (the constant back and forth with grammer and all that jazz). you also want to consider budget!! lol
On the plus side, a fb event or e-vite would give you automatic rsvp! (minus those annoying ppl that say maybe:smack:)
Re: Need your opinion guys…
I guess if you phone them up it will be fine as it’s more formal too. I personally think using Facebook as a medium is a bit like saying ‘I don’t care if you turn up or not but here’s an invite’. Plus you know how some pakistani people are like.
Re: Need your opinion guys…
If you don’t want a mini-wedding then fb is fine tbh. Save the cards and stuff for the actual wedding. After all, it is a smaller affair no?
Re: Need your opinion guys…
Thanks for the reassurance guys!
