Assalam alaikum
Quark,
It is true that the current and last form of Islam was revealed 1400 years ago but democracy which is supposed to be current or new is actually based on ideas which were around at the time of the Ancient greeks and is much older than Islam.
Also the validity of the ayahs of the Qur'aan have been challenged and have actually proven to be true. You in your writing have already proven an ayah:
95:4 We have indeed created man in the best of molds.
You might say that this is obvious but Hindus consider some animals to be better than humans.
Also there are many ayahs which give us knowledge which could have only come from the Creator and which have been proven centuries later by scientists:
21:33 It is He Who created the Night and the Day and the sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along each in its rounded course.
21:30 Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of Creation) before We clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
23:12 Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay);
23:13 Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest firmly fixed;
23:14 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then We made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then We developed out of it another creature: so Blessed be Allah the Best to create!
These are only a few ayahs of the Qur'aan. Can you give me any other religion which will provide you with such knowledge?
The church didn't agree with what Gallileo said because it was what the Muslims believed. They locked him up and accused him of being a Muslim.
At school I was taught about The Plague a.k.a. The Black Death. I was taught that people didn't wash themselves because they didn't think it was necessary.
The plague to them was like what AIDS is now. The english doctors didn't know how to stop this problem. People were sneezing away and dropping dead all over the place. The first step the doctors took was that they told the people to smell flowers and after some time they came to a conclusion that poses were the best. They said this since after sneezing the person would die and smelling poses would stop people from sneezing. I can't remember why but some doctors also prescribed smoking!
They did not know the cause and were trying to treat the effect. The effect is the final state of the action. Its like jumping from a step and stopping yourself from jumping after you have jumped. Where the english were concerned they didn't know that they jumped.
Anyway, it wasn't until the english got desperate and had to call in Muslim scientists who taught them how to wash themselves and treated the patients who were considered as good as dead by the english doctors.
In Islam Cleanliness is considered half of Faith.
So how does Islam hinder us in this respect?
Our knowledge is limited to our intellectual capability and our point of view. We do not know true cause and effect. We can guess and we can invent sciences to study the phenomenon but all we will get will be a limited answer which is very likely to be changed as more time is passed. Theories will start and other theories will be destroyed and people will continue to move around in circles not coming to a definite answer and the truth will be unknown.
Where Muslims are concerned, our Holy book has not been disproved and it doesn't contain any contradictions. We will continue to learn the truth from the Qur'aan.

Resistance,
What's good about secular humanism as I understand this to be sympathising with shaytaan?
Ask yourself really what made us come into existence. Did we create yourself? or are we just a reaction between a sperm and an egg as scientists make us believe or were we created for a task only we can complete. What's better, losing our existence after we have completed the job that we have been created for?, or being rewarded with Jannah? Do you think that Allah will reward us if we refuse to complete the task we were created for? or throw us into Jahannam?
Allah (S.W.T.) has no problem in completing the task we have been created for. The Qur'aan tells us that we have been created to be vicegerents of Allah.
Islam tells us that we have been created for a task and if we refuse to complete the task we are actually challenging Allah (S.W.T.)'s Sovereignty and do you think Allah (S.W.T.) will let us get away with it i.e. cease our existence? (which would be much better than Jahannam).
29:2 Do men imagine that they will be left (at ease) because they say, We believe, and will not be tested with affliction?
29:6 And if any strive (with might and main) they do so for their own souls: for Allah is free of all needs from all creation.
67:2 He Who created Death and Life that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might Oft-Forgiving.
Niaz,
It is true what you say. With a Capitalist mentality people only search for benefits in an action whereas we as Islamists know that which Allah (S.W.T.) has told us is best for us.
