We are working on the recipe portal and need your feedback/advice/criticism/suggestions.
Please look through it, and let us know what needs to be changed, enhanced, added, improved, deleted, etc etc etc in this thread here.
Also, to kick it off, a whole bunch of recipes were added but now we are looking forward to your contributions with your own homemade, authentic, wonderful recipes that you have been sharing in the Household section. The aim is to make it entertaining and helpful for everyone, and a one-stop for all your recipes, tips, queries regarding food. We won’t be able to do it without your contributions and involvement so looking forward to your response!
Shall we set a weekly theme Dildi ? for example : potato … or spinach .. etc and then eventually end of the week we will vote for the best recipe of the week …
The thing is i so love the portal and am really using it on a day to day basis for my cooking , but i am getting worried for the fact that its being poppulated by random recipes and not tried and tested ones :no:
CB- That is my concern too. It would be nice if we kept the ethos of the 'aaj kya pakaya' thread. Tried and tested recipes by guppies and guppans. This will increase the popularity of the portal and make it more effective for everyone.
Yes that sounds like a good idea. A theme per week sounds really good and then the most popular/user friendly ones can be added.
And maybe the categories could get consolidated. It is a bit overwhelming. For example- have starters/mains/dessert/breads and snacks and the different cuisines could be sub categories.
I think one of the best things about the portals , amongst many others is that , if anyone wants to see a certain users recipes , they can easily search all their recipes …
For example shinoo or bint e adam etc … so it will be really good if they can add their recipes to the system under their names .. rather then us doing it randomly … unless Mods can help us .. for example i can help you move the recipes there , but if Mods can put those recipes under the original posters name , that would be great … i dunno if i am also asking for too much
Thanks you guys for making this portal...and CB I have been wanting to try the recipes but am afraid coz I don't know which ones are tested and which ones aren't.... so pls add the ones from the thread aaj kya khaaya .... and also the pics that guppies put up... that would be just awesome....
Guys for bint-e-adam's recipes....she works so hard and puts up step by step pics maybe adding the link of the page where she has written the recipe would be a good idea too...

and thanks to all who volunteer to help. Its only with you help that we can categorize the content in a way thats useful to the new visitors. the recipe portal and HAC should be seen as extensions to each other. feel free to jump in/out each. and report any problems or upgrade suggestions to me via pm.
I am going to make an option for the editors to mark certain recipes as tested and tried by guppies. this should give extra exposure and ranking.. along with the already available facility of rankings and even posting replies.
It definitely needs more recipes. I promised pareezay i'll post some. I've transferred one recipe there which someone else posted. Its important we write at the bottom who originally submitted the recipe. I was busy so now that I have time, I'll start transferring more recipe. Rating is a good idea. I think there should also be a comment section where people can post comments after they try a recipe.
---The section where we add the Ingredients in a recipe doesn't allow more than a single space. so if, for clarity of reading, I type
Eggs(space)(space)(space)(space) 2
it still comes as
Eggs 2
Maybe you can allow spaces or design something in tabular form?
---If possible, the recipe being tried and tested part can be integrated into the recipe posting step. Like when anyone posts a recipe they can select the options 'tried and tested' or untried(something like that) and it appears as part of the recipe.

Tested and Tried will be a check box. if you check mark it, a special icon will appear next to the recipe that will indicate this recipe is tested and tried by guppies. working on it.
