Need to get my bridal altered! Urgent, calling all London Guppans!

So my grandma brought my gharara over from Pakistan, and they made it based on some pretty old measurements of mine that still do fit though. However, after trying it on the kameez is waaaay too loose and it just hangs on me like on a pole, especially because it’s also so heavy. I need to get it fitted ASAP, I have 5 weeks, so will that be enough time? Also, I’m worried the kaam will get messed up, because I need it fitted all the way from the top (underarms) to hips, and the sleeves are also sooo loose, I can’t even get my chooriya over them! I’m not going to trust just any desi tailor with this, but I have no idea where I can do it from. Does anyone know a reputable tailor that deals with bridal clothes in Berkshire/London? Anywhere in Southall?? Can I go to like a designer shop in Southall and ask them to alter it for me, or will they refuse to do it because it’s not their own creation? And how much am I looking to be charged for this?

Thankss girls

^You could try asking in the bazaar section..

Errr...best thing to do is go to a few shops around Southall or Green Street and ask if they can do it or otherwise recommend someone. I know a few tailors in Green Street, for example Banu in Green Street do a good job, but have no idea if they will look at bridal outfits :/

^Does Banu do normal everyday outfits as well?

I desperately need someone to stitch me some stuff..

If you go to seema's bridal in green street, they have a tailor who is really good to do their alterations. It's worth trying to see if he will do yours. He done mine and I'll try and hunt up his number if I can. But I did buy my bridal from seema's. Always worth a try. He done it in a day btw. We got their early, gave it to the tailor and by the time it was time to go home he had altered the top/sleeves/fitting of the actual lengha and taking out the netting stuff from underneath.

Deeba, yes they do, that's why I recommended them. They're not cheap compared to other tailors but they do a really good job.

I have a coupla suits stitched from there with my own material, and the tailor lined them, put a zip in and puts those boning stitches in if you want them too. My mum always goes there for her own suits. The only thing about them is that sometimes they can take a long time cos are so busy from a lot of orders.

I think it was about a month to get something stitched last time I got something done, but depends on how busy the period is

I think I spelled it wrong, it's Bano not Banu :(

How much did he charge for that? Hmm Green Street is kinda far from me though :/ I was looking for specific recommendations maybe in Southall, but thanks anyway I'll keep it in mind :)

Re: Need to get my bridal altered! Urgent, calling all London Guppans!

Most places won't do it unless you have purchased it from them, I know jaan bridal gallery (southall) have a tailor that will do it, between £40-£80 I think - depending on how much you want altered

Re: Need to get my bridal altered! Urgent, calling all London Guppans!

Wait, so will Jaan do it for me or not?

Re: Need to get my bridal altered! Urgent, calling all London Guppans!

Why don't you call a few shops in Southall and find out? Will save you time.

Yep they will :)
