need to ease the pain of burnt thumb

I’m ironing clothes, and guess what, I just burnt my thumb. I put it in cold water. It’s still hurting. How do I ease the pain? It just keeps nagging. I’ve tried putting ice on it. Doesn’t last long, and when it gets too cold, it hurts too.

I’ve tried putting tooth paste on it too, helps for a minute and then the nagging burning pain comes back.

Anyone got any quick good tips, please?

Re: need to ease the pain of burnt thumb

Someone told me aloe vera soothes for all kinds of burns...

Re: need to ease the pain of burnt thumb

Thanks for the tip. :) It's only a pity I don't have any right now, and it's past ten at night, so I can't go to the story to buy some. :(

Re: need to ease the pain of burnt thumb

Elders in my family often applied a little but of ghee to general burns or cuts. I'm not sure how effective it is but most people seem pretty convinced.

Re: need to ease the pain of burnt thumb

do you have any antiseptic cream...germaline type

poor you, burnt fingers are horrid

do you have an aloe type house plant it has pointy fat leaves set in circles around the main stem..use internet to find and take a leaf and rub on the burn

Just suck your thumb.

Re: need to ease the pain of burnt thumb

toothpaste on any burn always works wonders.

Thanks for the tips, folks. :)

Well, I've never used aloe vera, but maybe I should try to find it here and keep it in the closet.

Tooth paste is wonderful yes, but it only soothes the pain for seconds. Then you have to apply more.

But the thumb is doing better now. That should teach me a lesson for watching tv and ironing at the same time!

Isn't ghee used for cuts?

Re: need to ease the pain of burnt thumb

next time if you cut anything try putting cold atta from the fridge. and wrap the burnt area with the atta and leave it on for 15 minutes. Works wonders!
Now don't cut yourself just to see if it is effective;)
