What type of bridal dress would you recommend for a women in her early 40’s who is getting married for the second time, after being divorced for nearly 20 years? Both bride and groom are of Pakistani origin, but the bride is not traditional in any way (will not be comfortable handling a heavy draped dupatta).
The only pics I can visualize are of Maria B’s dress from her own wedding.
Please give some suggestions for color combinations as well.
My family is from India as well (Hyderabad!) and a sari would be gorgeous, but the soon to be bride in question has never worn one and is not very graceful at handling a lot of material lol!
She's not very in touch with desi culture period, and favors just a simple long shirt and chooridar sans dupatta when she does wear eastern kapray. She's basically left it upon the rest of the family to pick something out for her lol.
I'm wondering if a maxi type bridal gown or an angharka/pishwaz type with a chooridar would be the best way to go.
Again no heavy or garish kaam....I think something in lace or kamdaani would suit her style.
Something very simple and elegant. Like a maxi with simple borders kaam. Gorgeous chiffon panels. Unless they want to, dupatta beautifully set on her shoulder instead of on her head. If they are not very traditional maybe something similar to an American style maxi dress with bordered kaam along the necklines damaans and sleeves in a very flowey chiffon gown that's a blend between Pakistani and American. So many Pakistani dresses these days can be worn as American dresses.
I suggest a long anarkali with churidaar pajama and a semi light dupatta. Meaning, no 4-6 inch borders...maybe a two inch border so she doesn't feel overwhelmed.
I would LOVE to see a beautiful pink anarkali/churidaar outfit.
Maxis are very elegant and with a dupatta like reha suggested it would look lovely. I would love to see nudes, blushes or shades of taupe on a bride but deeper jeweled tones of emerald, or eggplant purples would also look amazing. Kate should only accentuate the dress not overwhelm it and it should make the jewelry stand out especially the hydro kind. Hsy had a gorg bridal collection with plenty of cuts and colors that were muted but of course the kaam needs to be edited.
go through Bargello.com to find ideas but do not order from them! They’ve had some awful reviews.
oh! What about a modern take on a classic hyderabadi khara dupatta. Make it in chiffon with 2" light kaam borders or even a kaam wali patti and in a shade of blush or ivory? Line the reverse side of the border in a contrast colour. Dupatta could be a narrower width than typical, in silk with just a very fine spray of tiny kaamdani and contrast piping in the edgess? The Churidar could be in the contrast shade too.
Hi,
I think moodie foodie's idea sounds great about blush and nude, absolute elegance! Also mint green . There is an outfit on House of Haroon fb page in their bridal album, check it out you might like it.
