need some help regarding utorrent

i need to back up my list of downloads
some are finished, some havent started yet and some are half way there

how can i back up so that i get my list back

i wanna clean install XP cuz this xp’s got viruses and stuff which make it crash very often :bummer:

i googled it and it told me to back up “utorrent” folder in C:\doc and setting..\application data\utorrent

i have backed up that already
so will it work :halo:

Re: need some help regarding utorrent

Those downloads are probably the reason you have viruses. :hehe:

If you’ve backed it up, it should probably work. When you reinstall windows and have utorrent reinstalled again, just replace the new folder with the old one and it will load old torrents (i’m not sure if the progress will be saved though, it might have to restart).

Re: need some help regarding utorrent

no its not really a virus but curropt file system thingy

and utorrent chk's the file and whatever is downloaded that's there it resumes from where it stopped

i've mostly movies and tv series on it
a few games nothing of virus sort

and have got eset smart security with latest definations so i dont think its a virus
its just windows xp which HAS to act up every 5-6 months lolz

Re: need some help regarding utorrent

if it does not start then probably you need to start downloading from beginning.

**While we are discussing utorrent ......
can any 1 plz explain initial seeding ... n how it is done ?

n also how can i update the trackers .... n does it actually works ?
**

^-- yeah if you’re downloaing a file, and it stop downloading because no one is seeding it, then you can update them manually.

in addition to that also backup the partially downloaded folder files, once you put everything back. Then they should start downloading where it stopped.

When you initially decide to upoad a torrent you open up the torrent client and create a torrent file. It would ask you the location of files/folder that you're going to share. You have to also put in the URL for the announce.php file (this is different for diff sites) in the client software.
Then depending on the size of the upload it would take a while and create the .torrent file and you are ready to go. Go to the right site and fill out your torrent info and then it gets listed so other people can see it and start downloading.

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but that's off the top of my head. Enjoy! :)

This is a very important point to remember.

yeah thanx bro
those files are in H;\ drive anywayz so they arent going anywhere
i'll only partition C:\

yup done :D

thnx

actually i was asking about "initial seeding" option while downloading :p
