Re: Need some advice on BlackBerry 8700c

Kaleemo, I used BB8700r (Canadian version) before switching over to jasjar. 8700 series is the best RIMS ever produced, the screen is bright, clear and sharp. EDGE provides you high-speed DT. 8700 is superior to Treo700 in many different ways. Talking about Q-Keypad, the middle key and the new left side key are user-configurable usually knows as Send and End buttons. I had my address book assigned to the middle key and my profiles to the left key, making it more phone friendly than previous versions of BBs.

One of the many downside was the Q-key pad, which wasn't that great. It was cramped and the keys were very stiff sometimes made me feel like using old type writer. I had to adjust to it. The ear piece had a very small sweet spot and becomes muddled at the highest volume. I didn't get a chance to use BT headphone with it which I do for my jasjar like a maniac but I am sure it would have been better than using the corded version. If you are one of those who now live on BT life support then this device is not for you, jasjar is...

Oh Yeah, missing camera!!! no built in camera, no slots for addin cards like SD/MMC/CF etc. and cannot set it to vibrate and ring at the same time. Only vibrate then ring. This feature would be useful to differentiate between an incoming call and an email when then phone is in your pocket. If it rings and vibrates you know its a call. If it just vibrates you know its an email. My BOSS still cmplains about ring tones which I think was aweful, you have to unlock the device to take the benefit of customized rings tones of your choice.

What are you using right now?
