Re: need some advice about acca and bba

tell us more about your background? are you straight out of your A-Levels? what subjects did you take? - hopefully accounting as that seems to be the common strand between ACCA and BBA... although in my own opinion these options aren't exactly substitutes of each other, as BBA is a formal University degree which will give you a broader basis of business education, while the ACCA will provide you with a strong credential to start a career in accounting (or accountancy as you'd call it).

Most people I know here in North America as well as some in UK opt to complete at least an undergraduate degree and combine their ACCA credential with it. I understand though that you can go for the ACCA by itself by passing all the exams after your A-Levels... but I'm not sure how viable that option is. I'll defer this to Jaanwar who's in the industry himself and can comment better on it.

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

oh okay thanx for the info

i took Business studies and Economics as my main subjects in A level

grades were 66% and 65 % respectively :bummer:

but then again i just fooled around the A level never studied etc :omg:

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

^ in that case, without prior experience in accounting or maths for that matter... I'd be hesitant to recommend the direct ACCA route. You need to establish that you have an aptitude for accounting.

Let's wait for our resident accountants to chime in... Faisal? Jaanwar?

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

yeah i kinda was avoiding accounting even in A levels lolz

but i think BBA is good choice after than i can do MBA
thanx alot for ur help brp :k:

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

**I second Lucid Chaotic. If you’re interested in a formal university degree then opt for BBA. You can go for MBA afterwards.

As far as ACCA is concerned it’s a professional degree. However you can get a bachelor’s degree in (if my memory isn’t misguiding me) Applied Accounting from the Oxford Brooks University UK on the basis of your ACCA qualification. All you’ll need to do will be to appear in a few papers of B.S. while claim exemptions for the rest of the papers. So if you do opt for this course you’ll get both a professional degree and a university degree also.

Best of Luck for whatever you go for.... **

I want to do bba with acca. Just completed my a levels. Is it possible and has anyone done it before. I think this is the best option because u combine professional qualification with university degree and all in 4 years. Is there any other good option.

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

My best friend just finished his BBA degree with a specialisation in Finance and Accounting and now he has started ACCA. So I think that's the route you should take too. Finish BBA and then later do ACCA or MBA. You will have more options.

but that would take alot of time. like 4 years of bba nd then 3 years of acca. its better if i do them together. does anyone know anyone who has done these together.

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

I don't think so it really does matter. He was 21 when he graduated. 3 more years would make it 24 or 25 roughly. That's still young enough but he would have two proper qualifications.

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

thats 3 years wasted. and i cant do that. if it can be done ill do it.

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

In my humble opinion, years spent on education are never wasted.

Re: need some advice about acca and bba

As innocent Attitude mentioned, if one wish to do ACCA they could get a BS degree from Oxford Brooks University UK (but they need to submit some research paper for that).

In this case i would not bother doing BBA at all. But going through university education his it own advantages where would be expose more things then just accountancy, thus better prepared for wider world.

I hope this would help.
