Need shampoo suggestions

Over the last few months my hair has gotten really thick. It’s already curly and dry and now it’s really unmanageable. I use oil but it doesn’t help and I’ve tried a lot of shampoos and conditioners but they don’t really make my hair “soft”. They make it look hydrated the day I use them but the next day it’s back to being really dry and feels crappy to touch (dry/brittle). I want it to sit, be really soft, and behave! Any suggestions? I don’t wanna use stuff like eggs and yogurt, too much fuss and hassle. I just want a shampoo/conditioner I can use sometimes and then use a bit of oil and that’s it.

Oh yeah. i wantsuggestions from people who have thick/dry/curly hair. merci beaucoup. and no, my hair isnt chemically treated and i dont blow-dry it etc.

Try the Oleo Relax range by Kerastase.

Biosilk - Silk Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner by Farouk.

I've also started doing oil therapy treatment on my hair at home. I know you (Sarah) don't want any tips but this may be helpful for others. What I do is take some olive oil and warm it up for a few minutes in the microwave. Massage it into my hair, particularly the ends in my case, and then put a hot towel over my hair so it's completely covered. I usually heat a towel in the microwave or just iron one to keep it hot. Leave the hair covered for about half an hour and then wash it off. It works.... at least on me.

Just don't use too much or else you may end up smelling like french fries. Coconut oil is also verrrrry good on the hair.

Can i buy these in ordinary drugstores? I don’t remember having seen them there.

Mehnaz, I do the towel thing sometimes too. I use oil a lot on my hair and I usually warm it up before using it, even if I don’t do the towel thing. Has it helped you? It hasn’t helped make my hair less frizzy or any softer :bummer:

It has made my hair softer and nicer. I have very thick, wavy hair and it looks so dry after I straighten it. I spoke to my hairdresser and she suggested I do this. I think you can get Keratese at some major drug stores like Shoppers Drug Mart. Biosilk you'll probably have to get from your salon.

exactly how has your hair gotten so thick?
i wish i had ur problem. :( my hair is so thin and puny

aussie.. lil expensive, but keep hearing good stuff about it :k:

Sigh. I got Redken All Soft because the people at the salon were very persuasive about it. Opinion after first trial: stiff tangly hair for 18 bucks. Let's see if it gets any better or I'll switch to Keratase.

im glad someone posted this topic...i have same hair: thick, wavy/curly, and dry...I HATE IT!!! most of the time after I take a shower I put baby oil in it..not too much...mostly on the ends...i let it dry completely, and then I blow dry (or use a straigtner) to make it straight. The problem I have is that since my hair is so thick, I get so much volume...I HATE that too! there are products to make hair look thicker, do u guys know if there are products that make hair look thinner??? Have any of you guys had ur hair "thinned"..like that haircut??? I've heard about it...
another beef I have with my hair is that when i want to make it wavy/curly, it looks nice for the first hour, then later on becomes dry. Have you ever noticed those italian ginas that alwasy have that "wet look"??? whats their secret? I have tried everything!!!!! if you know, let me know..thanks!

loreal vive is the best, it made my hair really light

dnt get ur hair thinned if u dnt like split ends, as thats what u get once they thin ur hair out...

My hair is wavy, dry and chemically treated. I swear by the Biosilk line. Even if you just want to use the smoothener and not invest in the shampoo and conditioner, you will see a definite difference.

Muzna, doesn’t Biosilk make your hair droopy and dull with residue? No shampoo seems to work on me :bummer: thinking of chopping off her hair

same here.

Use any shampoo, throw the conditioner out and after shampooing sqeeze the water outta your hair and put on John Frieda (sp?) Frizz Ease Serum. It makes hair shiny, glossy and so smooth.

Shampoo aint doing nothing for you.

LB, I wear hijab so the only thing I want my hair to be is soft and so far, nothing I have tried, ESPECIALLY styling products, have done that.
