So, I’m getting married insha’Allah in a few months and I have to stay here in the states. No one was able to go to Pakistan for shopping, not me, my mom or my mother-in-law and I have no family there to help with shopping. As a miracle my moms friend is going and agreed to help with shopping.
I am so distraught because I’m handing over the most important dresses of my life to be ordered and it wont be in my presence. The auntie is so sweet and nice and i can’t say enough good things about her, she is helping me with shopping on skype and showing me everything.
She asked me to give her a bunch of resources, stores, addresses, phone numbers of designers, tailors etc. for her to go check out and give me pictures of etc. She is in Karachi so I need addresses for that area.
So far she has gone to Maria B. and Nomi Ansari, but we are looking at more options, those were just the first ones that came to mind.
So basically my budget is roughly $1,000.00 dollars for each dress (shaadi and walima), thats 85,650 rupees per dress at the going rate I think. I need all of you wonderful girls expertise because I am seriously freaking out and turning into a bridezilla.
My auntie will only be there for 6 weeks, is that long enough to order bridal?
Can an original designer dress be made in that price or is that not enough?
Any designers that make dresses in that range? Contact info address and ph number please.
Any good shops for reasonably priced semi-precious jewelery? My range: $400-500 usd. I need basically necklace, teeka, clip-on nath (yes I know I’m lame, my fiance’ wont let me get my nose pierced he doesnt like it), and ring
Any nice stores for bridal shoes? My Range: $100-150 usd.
Miscellaneous accessories, Paranda for mehndi, bridal bangles, bridal clutches/pouches. My range: $50-75 usd.
Please answer with the question number so I can know which one of my gazillion questions you are helping me to answer
If she can bring the dress back with her, i dont mind a copy, but if she has to leave the dress there and have it shipped by DHL or whatever then I’d prefer to have it done by a designer because you can trust them a bit more than any ordinary tailor. My friend just got married and had a horror story where she went to karachi, picked out her material and dress, gave it to the tailor, went back home, and when they mailed it to her it was somethign totally different with only 1 month left to go before the wedding she had to go buy like a readymade bridal outfit here in the states. I dont want to end up like her. omg i think i’m going to cry. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee help. Allah aap sab ke liye asaani kare, I have so many duas for anyone who can help me right now. Please make dua for me bhenon.
I am not from Karachi, so I cant give you any help, but you may want to read through this thread. It has a lot of information on Karachi shopping (wedding shopping). Hope that helps!

@Saimab33 thanks for the link, I took lots of notes, but I need more price specific information and also hoping to hear more about peoples personal experiences and personal recommendations of specific stores.

I live overseas and got my nikkah outfit made in Karachi from 'Samia Ahmed'. She is my cousin, so I'm a bit biased however, all I sent her was a photo of the jewellery I wanted to wear and the colour and what she came up with was just perfect!!! She also adjusted the amount of work etc to fit our budget. She is super professional, flexible and punctual (I've got friends who have ordered from her too and they were very happy with the stress-free experience). Here boutique is in Defence - check her facebook group for contact details and maybe get your aunty to make an appointment to check out her bridal range....
There are lots of shops in “Gulf” center that have semi-precious sets. There’s one called “saravana”, that has amazing traditional jhumka’s/chaand bali’s etc. Your aunt should purchase material and have ‘kaam-wala’s’ do the kaam for you.

Yeah I’ve been utilizing Karachisnob so far for resources but what I really need is peoples personal experiences (like yours that you mentioned) to know whether its worth it for auntie to go or not. Also if you have pics you could include that would be great too. Thanks for the link Gina
