So guys i need ur opinion i was diagnosed with pcos in May becayuse i was losing alots of hair and my sycles were aroung 43-45 days and also i have hirutism and my gyno told me to go on Ortho tri cyclen lo but i didnt go on it and went to a endocriniologist and she put me on 25mg spironolactone and ortho tri cyclen lo but i m just scared that if i go on bcp i will lose more hair i have lost 75% of my hair also she said i have little bit too much male hormones and cuz of that my skin and my hair are sensitive to it.Also, i have been taking saw palmetto since june it did help with the cyclesw but i still cant decide if i should go on bcp. I know the doctor said i should go on bcp but they dont care. i really dont wanna lose more hair im getting my nikkah in 2-3 months inshAllah and i really dont wanna be bald on my nikkah day so do u guys think bcp is the only answer also the people who have pcos what do u think plz help i cant decide…thnx in advance

i also have pcos and hair loss is exteremly common as far as i know my hair does fall alot regardless of what i do however to prevent it from falling too muh u can do the normal things like oiling or conditioning.

I have PCOS and it may just have been coincidental, but since I went on a healthy eating diet and ate largely low GI foods my hair fell out less - and my cycles became like clockwork
Recently my diet slipped a bit and guess what - my hair started falling out again an my cycles messed up. I don't lose that much hair really but still everyday in the shower there are enough strands that come loose when I wring my hair out.....so have gone back to the low GI diet and general healthy eating plan......................

I think you need to wait until someone who has used it can give their experience.
IMO from the limited amount I know it just helps the symptoms. For example, two PCOS symptoms are irregular periods and excess hair. Once on the pill, you stop having a period. The monthly bleed you get during the pill free or placebo week is just a withdrawal bleed but it gives the patient the illusion that the periods have regulated themselves. On the right pill, the hair growth can be slowed down and stops further dormant follicles being activated.
There is a link between PCOS and Type II diabetes, namely insulin resistance, which is why the diabetic medication metformin helps some PCOS suffers. But these same people find that changing their diets and going by a low GI plan or low to zero carbs, they can get solve their PCOS symptoms. My cousin was diagnosed with PCOS, they said it wasn't severe enough for any medication but they did tell her to lose weight, which is an important aspect for many.

i have been on BC and it worked as long as i used it. Ofcourse you bleed but thats not your period, its just withdrawl bleeding because you dont ovulate on BC. and yes it definitely helps with hair. Decreases facial unwanted hair significantly and hair loss problem reduces too. Once you stop it, you will get back to the old state, i.e. irregular periods (if you used to have them before going on BC) and facial hair will be back again. Its not a permanent treatment (and again i dont think theres any) but if you are not trying to conceive, then its a good temporary solution!

I have PCOS and have lost a lot of hair but lately I have reduced my White Carbs and I seem to not suffering from the hair growth on the face, my expanded waist line has gone down and all in all feeling a lot healthier..
Most people I fear suffer from PCOS due to the diet and the excess chemicals in our environment, try and use as many natural products as possible and go with low GI
BCP will be fine at the time but won't resolve the underlying problem

can anyone suggest me good gynecologist in Lahore? caz i hv a prob of leucorrhea that dont cure completely also my mom has the same and also she has irregular periods. she has to face a lot prob due to this like severe headache, stomach prob, leg rashes etc. so plzzzzzzzzzz if anyone know a good one, plz tell me name and her contact information. thanx.

I have PCOS, and suffer from hair loss badly, i have been on metphormin for years now, and that helps with clearing the cysts from the ovaries. I recently changed my DR, cause the one previous would say nothing about my hair loss, and the new one has said it has to do with high levels of testosterone in the body, and the only thing that can correct that is BC, but i am trying for a baby so that would be no use for me!!
I have started to take suppliments, and that is after having lots of tests etc, but i cannot pinpoint if that is having any effect on my hairfall, it just seems to vary season to season, some months i have very minimal and some months it just falls out like no tomorrow?
