So I have been trying to get a straight answer for last two hours but everytime I call PIA or ticket agent I get a different answer.
I have two suitcases that are around 26kgs. I know that PIA allows only 23KG. I am wondering how much do they charge at Islamabad airport for extra KGs?? and If I were to make a 3rd baggage how much would that cost?
Re: Need info urgently: Travelling from Islamabad to Toronto - extra weight per bagga
btw, where to/from you are flying?
usually, airlines charge $50 for each suitcase weighing between 24 and up to 32 kgs and $200-$250 for an extra suitcase.
this is what i found on PIA site:
The free baggage allowance will be two pieces of 28 KGS each for business cabin and two pieces of 23 KGS each for economy cabin (For USA and Canada Only).
Excess Baggage Charges from USA to PAK is 110.00 USD per piece.
Re: Need info urgently: Travelling from Islamabad to Toronto - extra weight per bagga
No Idea but 3 kg is not too much. I've travelled with 6kg extra and escaped any extra charged and that too on Air Canada :D The info KKF found says its 110$ for extra piece so that would be around 11,000+ PKR according to the exchange rate.
I am flying from isb to Toronto. I have heard that they charge 15000 pkr for extra baggage. Is that correct?
regarding 3 Kg extra weight, you may or may not be able to get away. it all depends who the checking agent is and what mood he/she is in. also, how heavy the flight is on that day. Air Canada and other western airlines are a bit lenient on extra few Kg as compared to third world airlines because, to be honest, that's how they make extra bucks in this age of throat cut ticket pricing. it's a whole new ball game if OP knows someone in PIA at the airport at the time of check-in who can facilitate her. as far as the charges mentioned on the PIA site, i won't go by that because God knows when they updated the info...it could be 10 year old info...lol the industry norm is $200 per piece of baggage weighing up to 23 Kg and $250 for bags weighing between 23 and 32 Kg.
Re: Need info urgently: Travelling from Islamabad to Toronto - extra weight per bagga
yeah....it really depends on who's checking you in.....if they are in a good mood or not.....if they have made enough money for next month's rent or school fees or not.....if their wife is expecting a child and wants a C-section (which costs more than natural delivery) or not......etc, etc, etc.
6 years ago an extra suitcase cost us Rs.7K from Karachi to Toronto.....could be Rs.15K now....totally believable.
