Since I have really thick dark leg hair, it’s really hard to decrease em. I’ve tried wax and ALHUMDULILLAH my hair are decreasing but its a major pain!! Also hair removal lotion is just a mess.
SO I heard of an epilator and it pulls the hair outta the follicles I believe. I was wondering if any of you people tried it and is it effective and all? Do the hair really decrease and any ingrown hair? Can it be used on sensitive skin? Can be used on arms/underarms, etc.
Also I know the first time I will use it, it will hurt. But, still make sure to tell me the pain factor
I've been using it for a year now and i like it! I use on legs and arms. Underarms i cant bear! better with wax there. So yea .. it is painful the first few times but it gets better with time :) And i think ingrown hairs is a problem with every way so just need to scrub and so on.
i wonder if Wizzit can help you
....
Here is something i read n myt be beneficial for you,
With the old tweezers and mirror, it takes ages to get rid of embarrassing facial hair and it’s painful too. But now there’s something that’s both fast and gentle. And it works so well, you won’t even need a mirror. It’s the Wizzit: An amazing invention that literally finds, grabs and removes unwanted hair from the roots, keeping it from growing back for weeks.
It is specially designed to reach out and firmly hold on to the hair, no matter how short or how fine it is. And its rotating action ensures a gentle and thorough removal of the hair shaft, root and all.
This unique technology attracts hair like a magnet, so you will never need a mirror. Just sweep the Wizzit around the problem area and you will never miss a hair. That’s why it’s 30, 40 or even 50 times faster than tweezers.
The Wizzit has no blades, instead working as an epilator, gently removing hair and leaving you with smooth hair-free skin.

Yea, I think everything is painful the first time; no doubt about dat....does your skin bleed den..? Cuz I have thick hair n sensitive skin, so when I wax, it bleeds a lil bit.
Thanks Every1....I came across another thread about epilator... :D Im so dumb...I always find things after I post. I wuld post the link but .... 1. You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 25 posts or more.
don't do it. over time you will end up with far worse ingrowns than with waxing.
epilator's are so haphazard in their ripping that they really mess up hair growth. they also break a lot of hairs instead of pulling them out.
a few years ago i invested in a wax heater and started waxing even more regularly. didn't touch my epilator after that. eventually i started laser. if you can save up for it, laser is the best option and cheapest in the long run.
i've been using an epilator on my arms, legs, underarms and chin area for the past 5 years. i havent even touched wax (only for bikini area). i LOOOOOOOVE my epilator! i think they are the best creation EVER!
the pain factor is relevant. YES it hurts. but, its sooo worth it. it will hurt like hell the first few times around, but then you'll get more used to it and be able to bear it. i promise.
ease of use is soooooo much better than yucky sticky wax. wax is a great method, but its just too sticky and messy and u have to keep warming it up, hence, keep running back and forth to the kitchen microwave, such a hassle!
i really recommend epilators. there are alot on the market. check eBay, they have reliable service and great prices too! the best brand out there is Braun. Also panosonic has some nice ones too.

Thanks stoppit; i appreciate your advice. On the legs i'll probably stick with the wax cuz its helping me a lot. But the laser; i just dont feel comfortable with other ppl working on me. Thanks again....
ive been using it for long time at first it was painful on my legs then after couple of time u won;t even feel it and made my legs smooth, i use to have dark thick hair course not any more it has lighten up and comes out more less. I brought a new epilator which has an massager attach to it so u wont feel too much pain, it kinda massages it while its pulling out ur hair. I think epilator saved my money and not painfull anymore.

hmmm i really wouldn't risk it on the face.
a GS user recently pm'd me asking for advice about laser/electrolysis as she had been epilating her face.
overall, i have heard more horror stories than positive ones when it comes to epilator's. out of myself, my sister, my cousins, i was the only one who had the least side-effects - as in only ingrown hair on my legs, not underarms or arms. for everyone else, they got major ingrowns on all areas. and when i say major, i mean the kind that are deep under the skin and you end up with huge spots that leave long lasting marks.
with laser, it's like a semi-medical treatment. i wouldn't be put-off by the thought of other people working on you. it's a life changer and probably the best money I have ever spent.
I remember gettin my first epilator- I was expecting 'PAIN' after all the links I came across always mentioned how it wud hurt like hell. But I was pleasantly suprised- it wasnt that bad! maybe I have a high pain threshold- dont know- but wasnt that bad an dot gets the job done.
Im savin for laser now though- its dang expensive!

no prob.
i do use it on my side burn area and under my chin wit no problems. just keep your skin taught with the other hand and go slowly. no problems!! for the ingrown hairs i loofah 2 times a week in the shower with any 2 % salicylic acid cleanser as that helps slough off the dead skin cells without me having to rub too hard. neutrogena Body Clear body wash is a good one u can use.ive been very sucessful with this method Alhumdullilah ...and i've been doing epilator for 5+ years!!
I'm using it since last two years, it was very painful in the start but now I'm used to iy and my hairs have got weak too.. so so far its working fine for me..
and I may sound naive but I just heard about scrubbing after epilating to prevent ingrwn hairs i wanna know do you do this right after epilating? or when the hair starts growing? can i use any normal scrub? lemme know please the whole thing..
