...Need IMMEDIATE help...

Ok, long story short: XP home was curruped so I installed XP pro without deleting home. Now I have 2 operating systems: XP home and XP pro. I can access pro fine but since home was corrupted, I can’t access it. It’s there, nothing has been deleted but can’t access it.

Here are a few questions:

Although I can’t access the home’s folders, can I still somehow access the files using pro? I don’t wanna format it and lose everying on it!

Is there a way to delete home without formatting the whole system. I can do it but I would rather not to avoid reinstalling pro.

Which one is better: home or pro?

Re: …Need IMMEDIATE help…

I formatted that as well :bummer:

p.s. Answer the question, save the tanz for later.

Re: ...Need IMMEDIATE help...

Why can't u access the home's folders? Go into the folders' security tab, click on advanced and take ownership of all the folders. Then you should be able to do what you want with them. (don't take undue advantage of them tho)

Re: ...Need IMMEDIATE help...

In xp pro, there's a progam called "Desktop search" that pops up like a frog in the taskbar. I don't think that comes with the windows? because I've tried to remove it:

from add/remove .........not there
registries.......doesn't allow me to delete it
virus scan.......doesn't catch it
ad scan.......doesn't catch it.
search the computer manually......don't see it there

It is so annoying. How do I get rid of that?
