CAn you guys give me some fundraising ideas for the m[font=‘Times New Roman’]aintainance of masjid that us girls could do such as snack/bake sale or
or
or…
Re: Need Ideas
Fundraising works well when people know they will be getting something in return of their donation.
So, here is what i suggest. Go with a bake sale idea but for whoever purchases something put their name in a raffle which will be drawn at the end of Ramadan.
Now for what to get for prizes. Here is what i have done. Visit various businesses and ask for their gift certificates, etc. I know companies do participate and donate. I had real luck with grocery stores. They easily donate 50 dollar gift certificates. Also, places like gap or even desi businesses. What makes it much eaiser and makes it professional, when approaching these businesses make sure you have a letter from your masjid that explains what you are doing and the cause and makes it more professional and legit.
Good Luck!!
Re: Need Ideas
There's lots of fundraisers you can find off the internet just by googling. For example, selling things from catalogs or referring people to certain organizations, etc.
Bake sale would probably be the funnest.
Selling Krispy Kreme Donuts for the sake of Allah (swt) is always fun.
Re: Need Ideas

Re: Need Ideas
First make the budget for the maintenance of the mosque...so you have some clue how much to raise...
-Snack/bake idea is cool as Ramazan is nearing...so you can do that at Iftari/Traveh time...
-Contact some local desi businesses/people
-Contact some Islamic Orgs
-Organize some muslim desi functions etc
InshAllah...you girls will raise the needed funds... :)
Re: Need Ideas
Oh and can't the Saudi's do funding for some non-prophet Islamic organizations? The downside is that you must abide by there rules and all, but they do fund musjids in the US.
Re: Need Ideas
Thankyou, the raffle idea sounds great and im sure we ccan find business who would more than willingly donate. Once again thankyou. Also if any of u have unique programs for ypung adults/kids, please share them. The girls can always help around with setting up some kind of a mentoring program or even some kind of group activities.
Re: Need Ideas
Make your own hijabs using cloth, fabric paint, embroidery, crazy fun fabric prints, and sell them - use the profit as funds.
Do a dinner at the masjid or at a local hotel, for which everyone would have to pay for (its more grand scale).
Do a naath/hamd performance with the kids, and then make video tapes en masse, and sell them. At least parents will buy it. shrugs Unless, they're cheap desis.
Mehndi designs at eid time. If you can find someone who does good mehndi designs. Or it can be any time other than eid. No big deal. Charge like 5 bucks per hand, and use the funds for the masjid.
Chand Raat Mela - every masjid SHOULD have this. Sell shalwaar kameez, fancy dupattas, hijabs, choorian, jewelry, etc etc - and keep the profit for the masjid. also big project
Tutoring. Have tutors who are willing to volunteer their time, and make parents pay fees for children. The fees can go to the masjid.
Re: Need Ideas
You lot are really pious and virtuous (I mean you people living abroad). I think people in Pakistan should learn something from you all.
My father took up this project of rebuilding a totally dilapidated mosque. At first we had a very positive response, but as soon as my dad was out of the country all our relatives backed out. Moreover one of them pulled us into litigations saying the mosque extends into his land by 1foot x 7feet.
