Need help...

I’m having a Pakistani family over for lunch this Sunday, we’ve known each other for about a year or so. They’re friends thru business/work basically…have 3 kids, eldest is 12.

My question to you guys is, what the heck should I make?! I need ideas for a good menu, something that won’t be too dinner-like, and not too light. Two of the things I’m definitely thinking of making is (roasted/baked/grilled) tandoori chicken and aloo gosht. Good idea? Bad?

Need help, ASAP!

Re: Need help...

Aloo gosht for dawat.. err I don't know..

But when I decide a menu I usually have a rice dish, a kabab dish, a curry type dish and a vegetable dish. Roti, raita, salad and all.

So I think you have a kabab dish.. tandoori chicken. You can either make biryani or palau. Make karahi chicken/qorma.. and you are all set.

Re: Need help…

Not too dinner-like? What does that mean? Do you mean not too desi dinner like?

Re: Need help...

I mean not too much heavy food.

@Spiral, idk...I make killer aloo gosht and it's a salan...I told you, I'm clueless. Karahi gosht/chicken sounds better though!

Re: Need help...

If you want to keep it lighter...

Karhai gosht/chicken
Some sort of pulao
Kabab of any kind
One vegetarian dish

Naan, raita, salad, etc.

Re: Need help...

Thank you!!

Re: Need help…

Let us know what you finalized for the menu eventually :@:

Good luck :lifey:

Re: Need help...

i'd say make pulao with aloo ghost, tandoori chicken. Add simple tomato cucumber salad and raita. YUM!

Re: Need help...

and the pics please

Re: Need help...

It was a success! I made biryani, karahi gosht, maash ki daal, tandoori chicken (it was just the leg pieces), with salad and naan. For dessert ras malai....that my mom made lol. But it was awesome. I didn't take pics cos I was doing all the setting the dishes out and blah blah. But I have left overs lol. Thanks for all your suggestions though! =)
