on eid usually the uncles come to our house we do salam etc meet the family eat have a gupshup then the cousins go out for their eveing out

what does eid mean to you? ?
Till 15 years ago, eid was like the day to just crack some fire crackers... hang out with friends and family, collecting eidis and boasting how much one has earned.....
And then the responsibility bends ur back...so now u feel, eid is really meant for kids.

These years, i just try to find something very odd that i have never done before to do... like this eid, i am going for para trooping. Hope i make it in one piece.

1) eid for me is special symbol of celebrating our religious festival with unity amongst muslims! It means alot more celebrating eid when your in a foreign country mainly because you hold on to what is dearest to you when your amongst so many diverse people. It provides an identity, shows my roots makes me who I am.. a muslim.
2) On eid wake up early in the morning to the smell of mum's cooking! get dressed before the men of the house come home after reading eid namaaz. If they come home before im dressed then they are not allowed to see me until im fully ready.. its just a little thing my mum used to do when i was younger and its turned into a mini tradition lol! then i go down wish eid mubarak to my family and get all the eidi i can outta them. Then i munch on food and later go around to my nani's where all my mamu's and khala's are there with family (And theres sooooo many of us) The oldies are usually having a laugh in one room and all us cousins are in another. Its sooooo much fun!! Then in the evening we make our way to my thaya's house and spend it there again with cousins late into the night.
3) money money moneyyyyyyyyyy
4) always traditional pakistani! whether that be shalwar kameez, churidaar or something else.

but for me its just seeing my ‘family’. its the time of the year where my uncles and auntys get together and pretend to like eachother (sorrow but true) for the sake of the kids. we never used to realise it when we were younger

Eid is good but i like ramzan better
nothing really, pray eid namaz, sleep all day and then hang out with friends

I love Eid and it is a big part of my life. Firstly I love the build up to Eid, i.e. Ramadan. Each and everyone in my family leads a busy life, so it’s not often we get to sit together and eat, but during Ramadan we’re able to do so not once but twice a day, its also such an amazing time to do abadat. I feel closest to my religion during this time. For me eid = quality family time. Our families get together, put aside their differences and just have fun. It’s a great day for the adults and kids alike.

We normally all gather at someone’s house and have a big meal. It’s always so much fun and we make so many memories together.

My dad and my brothers give me money, aswell as aunties, uncles and other relatives. My mum always gets me clothes and jewellery, and my bhabi buys me a beautiful gift. Normally something ive had my eyes on for a while :)

I wear whatever my mom gets me, me and my bhabi normally have matching outfits but in different colours. Its always so much fun to get dressed up!

Living in Germany its nothing more than a wave of happiness for few hours after eid ki nimaaz.

meet same friends again. eat something with a little change.... and then back to routine life

Shalwar Qameez for eid nimaaz and till the zoor shoor of eid remains then back to home and the regular trousar bushat.
Have gotten married so I am sure things will change now. Writing how it was till last Eid.
What does Eid mean to you? Couple of years back it was all about dressing up & hustling as much Eidi as I could. Now its still about dressing up & showing others around me that we Muslims have fun too. I usually wait for Eid so I can dress up at work or school & show off some nice Asian clothes & it usually gives me a chance to teach non Muslims a little more about why we fast or what Eid signifies.
What do you do on Eid? so far I have spent my last 10 out of 14 Eids at work. Take some of my mom's hand made sheer khurma & fresh Bakhlawa to work. Call & wish Eid Mubarak to as many people as I can from work.Sometimes I would get off early from work & go to my phoppo's house were she always hosts a dinner for Eid. Taking funny pictures with my sisters & brothers at night time.
What kind of Eidi you get? The last time I got Eidi was from grandmother in law in the form of cash last year. Other than that its been 7 years since someone gave me any Eidi.
What kind of kapre you wear? It has to be a shalwar kameez or chooridar with matching jewelery, bangles & mostly Khussas. Choti Eid & Bakra Eid are two times in a year when I really deck out in terms of dressing up.

a special event which i celebrate after fasting for 30 days .i get to do pretty heena designs and not to forget the chooriyan!
