This is my final year in highschool and we have prom. And i have no idea what to wear. I can’t wear anything revealing. I am also the only desi person in our grade. i really wnat to go because all my friends are going and this is the only issue holding me back.
i would really appreciapte your help as i am going very crazy right now. btw, prom is on the may 22.

pakipari, there are many modest prom dresses that you can wear. A simple party wear sharara can do the trick if you want to wear one. There are many desi dresses out there, too. Do you have any particular style/ dress in mind? Is there a theme?

They’re known as “modest prom dresses”. If you google that and hit images…you’ll get many pictures of non-revealing prom dresses. here are some links to pictures:

I’ve seen some girls buy strap gowns…and then wear a shrug on top to cover their shoulders and arms. And it looks cute. You can try that idea.

y dont u buy one dress with straps and if u can find a tailor or some can stich a small jacket with sleeves however long u want it .......that would be good ...my cosin his wife is chinese muslim and she is wearing same style dress as i described //

mahismart, I do have an anarkali-ish kind of dress....i was kind of thinking of wearing that but I’m not too sure though..cuz it has a lot of kaam..I don’t know if that will look overdone

Think about it. There will be so many girls there with similar style gowns.......and you will be wearing something that is like a dress in a unique and different style! And pulling off something different with confidence is HOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And you know the basic rule..........when your clothes are fancy.......go easy on the jewelry and makeup.

waise i've heard that it's mor common for desis to wear a "desi" outfit to prom in the UK than in the US....

I didnt have a prom where I went to school but al lot of my friends wore lehngas to their proms. :)
