Need help

You need to get your hands at a computer to find some work.
There is plenty of work if you can compete with Indian , Chinese and Eastern European folks.
guru.com, elance.com , odesk.com provide lots of opportunities to work from home and earn decent living. Explore those sites. Be careful to make sure that you use the payment method offered by these services , because some people will give you a project to work on but will not pay as they promised to pay.

Re: Need help

Go visit some temp agency, hook on to something and start searching actively for a real job i.e. get in touch with recruiters. Allah is the provider, it will take serious effort but you will find something.

while you are looking for work, in parallel try elance and oDesk. There is good amount of work on offer there you just have to keep your rates low in the start but hey 20$/hour is better than nothing..huh?

Re: Need help

I would agree with Jaanwar to hit the temp agencies in your location. Once hired in the company you could easily find something better within.

Do you have children ? You need to move to Washington DC area. This area is still not hit in IT as bad as west and rest of the country. We will be glad to help you out any which way we can. I have been in this profession for past 25 years in this area.

Re: Need help

Are you willing to relocate?
Do you have prior work exprience?
Can work in U.S legally?

All things to ponder about.

I want to know the same things njgal has asked and dont agree with PakiAmerican to move to anywhere without any proper planning which you need one under present circumstances.

Roll your sleeves up, you may have to work very hard but as I said if you do proper planning and execution, everything will be ok inshallah.

You see, you have a whole company here to help you out. Count yourself lucky. Let us know about yr every move and you'll get very good suggestions. Good luck btw!

If you're able to do things like data retrieval from crashed disks, or even helping new computer owners hook up all of their new equipment (maybe with a short training session if they're new to computer), you could post an ad on the services offered section of Craigslist in LA. A lot of times people needing some basic computer services will check there first to try to find a bargain rate before going to an established company. I would look at similar ads and see if you can match or beat the rates they seem to be offering.

That is a very good suggestion.
While in Chicago I made thousands of dollars a month training people on computers one on one. They were happy and highly obliged to me for doing so even though they were paying for it.

It was Oracle Financials consultant training.

Re: Need help

do you have a list of possible positions you could work at? what do you think you are qualified for?

Re: Need help

then your best bet is to contact temp agencies in your area.
