I learned about an ingredient called ‘vars’ on the Tibb-e-Nabvi program. Supposedly it’s similar to saffron. I have never heard of the word, nor has my mom. I guess this would be a task for KKF who is an expert in languages and plants, but insight from others is also welcome. I have hard of bars which is a disease, no clue what vars would be in English. So, any ideas?

i’m not an expert for sure but this is what i know.
Cornel are shrubs that bear berries…Urdu meN qaraaniyah aur Poorbii zabaan meN ‘makoiya’ kahte haiN…the berries are in different colors…the ones in our area [UP, India] are black, green and red.

I’ve seen these before. I believe the tree they come from is called Dogwood (at least here in Britain). I wasn’t aware the berries were edible. :hmmm:

I actually bought the thing few months ago from a Hamdard along with other ingredients to make some hikmat medicine at home. Its commonly used by local hakeems in medicine. I dont remember what It looked like.

i watched the video at 2:40 until he starts talking about something else. i didn't hear that Wars looks like saffron.
saffron is the male part of the flower which is called Androeceum which has two parts...the 'filament' [stalk] and the 'anther' containing 'pollens'. these filaments are long sometimes for enhanced pollination purposes. these stem-like structures called filament is the saffron. there are 3-5 strands [stalk, filament] in each flower and that's why the yield is very low and the price very high.
i think one of the varieties of Cornel flowers have saffron like filaments which looks like saffron.
the Wars he is talking about is this part of the flower.

Hakeem can identify what worse/wurse/wars actually is.
You can alternatively search olive oil and other ingredient combination for face. You may get answer.
