Need help with my regimen

Ok guys here’s the deal… Im a perfectionist when it comes to the way I look and proportion and all that… and for some reason my lower body is comparitively bigger/thicker than my upper body. I’ve been trying on and off to slim down my legs… but it’s just not working. In fact, all that the exercising has done is bulk up my calves :smack: Now another headache to deal with in this weightloss mission.

This is exactly what I do… suggestions/tips on what I should increase/decrease/eliminate from my fitness regimen?

Treadmill- anywhere from 30 mins-1 hr.. alternating between a brisk walk, jogging, and running.

Machines for the legs- inner thigh and outer thigh machines, leg curls, leg press

Ab machine, rotato twister… mostly for the stomach

I do all this at least 3 times a week and a maximum of 5 times a week.

What am I doing wrong, and more importantly is anything im doing just adding muscle to my legs and keeping them the same size instead of slimming them down???

Re: Need help with my regimen

Some of us are gifted, where its easy for us to put on muscle and some arent. Its a good thing but it can be annoying too.

I think you should go easy on the weights, decrease the weights your using...and up the reps you're doing.

What kind of machines are you using? Leg presses and leg curls right? Im not a big fan of machines. You should try to take some hand weights and do lunges with those and squats with a barbell on your shoulders, no more then 5lbs on each side.

Another trick is combination of pilates, yoga and cardio.

Good luck.

Re: Need help with my regimen

work with a fitness trainer..that can really help.

Re: Need help with my regimen

skittlez,

continue with what you are doing. the key to slimmer legs is burning the fat around it. so keep doing your cardio, strength training and most of all....eat healthy non fatty foods.

initially you will notice your body developing muscle before slimming down. eventually it will result in slimmer legs. just be patient.

women dont bulk up (ie get massive muscles like men)...we are not genetically made that way. so dont worry about that happening.

also i suggest taking up pilates....it really helps in slimming down and developing long lean muscles in the legs.
