Need help finding a red lipstick

I don’t usually wear l/s but would like to slowly start. I’m NC40 and would like recommendations on a bright red lipstick. Not colors that’s blue, orange, or maroon based. A true red l/s that won’t dry out my lips.

Prefer brands that’re drugstore or MAC (or brands with similar pricing). I won’t spend $$ for a l/s on higher brands such as Chanel, Dior etc.

I know MAC Russian Red is popular but wondering if there are others I should look into.

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

Do you want something matt or something with a bit of sheen? Like a creamy lipstick?

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

Oh since we are talking about red lipsticks, I love what Angelina Jolie had on at Oscars! I thought it was beautiful red. I just don't know what it was.

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

Mad Hatter: I think I'd prefer something creamy (with matte, I wouldn't want it to dry out).

Spiral: Agreed! That red l/s looked hot!

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

maybelline color sensation has some nice reds- and it has the hydrating honey nectar (i got that from the commercial hehe)

i’d like to try red revival from that line

go play at ulta- they let you return stuff even if the package is open :biggthumb:

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

In DS picks, Revlon's quality is superior. Their matte 'Really Red' wears smoothly and is non-drying. It's similar to MAC Russian Red, and Ruby Woo, but less blue-based compared to the latter and feels more comfortable. I love slightly warm/yellow-based reds; I think they would really pop on your skin-tone. Try them all, sometimes what looks best is something you wouldn't normally consider.

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

luvblingz - OMG I didn't know Ulta took back opened DS make-up! That opens up a whole new world for me...lol. Thanks! :)

Chaibiskut: I'll definately try that one out. I agree that I also prefer warm/yellow based red. Cool tone'd reds don't look good on me. :( Thanks! :)

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

I like MAC's lipstick in Dubonnet...its a burgundy red shade but looks great on most skin tones!

Re: Need help finding a red lipstick

luvblinz:  You’re awesome! Yep…you can combine Ulta’s coupon and manufacturere’s coupon. I’ll be making a trip there (with multiple transactions!) tomorrow.

CorruptAngel: Thanks!
