hey everyone,
i’ve looked around the threads but mostly everyone is talking about either ny/nj/li or toronto. I’m just curious, has anyone ever been to a wedding in texas? specifically houston?
i might be having my Nikkah there this summer, and personally, i dont know what to do or where to look
i’m in need of ideas for makeup (besides a mac counter), a banquet hall (indian/paki, but halal of course), and a good photographer
i’ve googled places, but no one really has a website. So im just wondering..has anyone been to a wedding in houston recently?? please help me out guys!
My sister's valima was in some saida's hall (spell?) and she got her makeup done by some Ayesha's (spell?) (i guess that was the name of the saloon, it was close to some desi resturant and that was a damn good resturant, sorry again I don't remember the name) and it was all in the or close to Galleria Area.
My own wedding happened in Dallas at Westin Park Central. I know we chose that hotel since the chef there was the only one who also knew how to cook our desi dinners.I did my makeup....yes I did both days...But had my hair done from a salon in Colleyville...
But if u need someone desi to do your makeup, I do have a cosmetologish desi friend who works at Aveda in Las Colinas(again a midcity between dallas and fort Worth)...And there r Desi Banquet halls too here.
my cousins getting married in houston next month
she also had her nikkah done there last year,
she got her dress jewelry and makeup from houston, everything looked great and v nicely put together
the reception was at a hall inside a restuarant but i dont remember the name
there are soo many places in dallas to hold a wedding have desi food shop for desi stuff and get your makeup done desi style, you shouldn't have a problem at all!
my sister got married at the Renaissance Hotel and got her make up done by Shazia. I believe the website is makeupbyshazia.com -- she did an amazing job. As for as Hotels go, I have been to many many desi weddings in Houston and I can tell you which hotels are nice but it basically depends on your budget. Intercontinental is a nice hotel -- very contemporary. The Omni in the Galleria area is nice too, and Hilton America in Downtown is gorgeous. I really am not fond of the halls in houston -- theres Taj Hall on Hilcroft that is alright and offers food but the food is HORRIBLE. You are better off with a Hotel in Houston because our desi hall facilities just suck. As far as food goes, theres Royal and Shahnai, but I know that indian restaurants offer Halaal food too like Bombay Brasserie -- which is where we got the food for my sister's wedding, and we had mutton dishes as well -- and it was AMAZING. You simply cannot go wrong with Bombay Brasserie.
Ayesha's beauty salon is one of the most famous pakistani salons in Houston, and she has about 6 locations all over the city. Her people do a good job, but I feel her work is getting generic. Try this makeupbyshazia girl, she did a great job without making my sister look 10 shades ligher than she is.
oh and for photography, you cant go wrong wit A&A videography -- they are amazing! the photographer they work with is pricey, so id recommend using someone else. but their videography is worth it. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!!!!
theyre based in austin, but they provide some of the best pakistani bridal makeup & photography ive seen. their makeup artist used to do a lot of professional tv/modeling makeup in pakistan. theyre a little pricey, but they do travel and i think theyre worth it.

I am so tied up with my work and have no siblings or social friends to ask. Therfore, I am asking you guys to help me please.
I don't want to spend a lot of money on each thing............I am looking for reasonable prices and yet good stuff.
If i have missed something that I should be thinking off please add...........most probably I will go to pakistan for shopping so that will be another post. :)
here is a website for a makeup lady(frm Austin i think) who travels to city if needed.
and also the attached thread has a lot more information abt few other things regarding Dallas and wedding planning:
For number 2, we had our garlands made from our decorator (the person who did the stage/centerpieces). Also, there's a bridal show in Dallas this November (during Thanksgiving I think) that could be helpful to you! I'm also in Dallas, so if you need anything, feel free to pm me :)
I have a few friends who got their make up done from various places in Dallas, 3 of my friends got it done from Maitee Miles, one other got it done from Maitee's sister, one of my other friends who recently got married here got it done from MAC, and one other who got it done from a desi lady at home. I have pictures but I'm sure they wouldn't want them posted on the web so if you're really interested in going with one of em, i'd be happy to privately show you.
i agree they are worth the money and during weddings made us do really cheesy things like one friend had to run as we threw flower petals at her but in the video it looks really nice and artsy though she felt awkward doing it. those guys do know waht they are doing and are very nice people to work with.
also check out makeup from sarah ali for houston brides: Login | Facebook
(i have friends they went with aisha of the many aisha salons and i can show you privately some pictures so you can get an idea but i think i prefer sarah’s bridal looks). How many guests are you having and what’s your budget when it comes to halls and such?
