Need help! Bread pudding

Hello guys,

Hope you are well. I was going to make this bread pudding but the recipe has whiskey.. and for a substitute someone there suggested maple syrup but to my dismay I can’t find it either in my town.. any ideas what else can be done? Here’s the recipe The Pioneer Woman Cooks - Ree Drummond

Thanks

Re: Need help! Bread pudding

Hope this helps you out a bit.

Thank you Mahismart.

I'll check the links but have never tried Rida Aftab's before, have you?

And if I like to make PW's pudding is there a substitute for maple syrup? Honey maybe?

Help me out please! Pretty please with cherry on the top!

Re: Need help! Bread pudding

you really really don’t need whiskey in bread pudding. In fact, you really ought not to, since it will, in general, completely ruin the taste. Alcohol in dessert will create a bitter aftertaste that is quite unpleasant. Maple syrup will only take away, as will honey too. Bread pudding is a simple, homely dish that should consist of just eggs, sugar, milk, and bread. Here’s a recipe I use when I make it, and I leave out the raisins. It comes out perfect and is always a hit. The one thing you CAN do, if you feel like it, is add some semi-sweet chocolate to give it a richer decadence.

Re: Need help! Bread pudding

Don't make a whisky sauce, it is not needed....

Thanks Lusi.

I'm gonna make it today InshaAllah.. I hope I don't make a mess!

Well, Rida's recipes are all good and the dish always turns out very well. I always dig out her recipes whenever I want to make a new dish.
