ok i need some help, i have bin thinkin alot about getting acrylic nails done, since i have trouble growing my own.i few people that i have spoken 2 say that ure natural nails get affected and natural nails turn green… ect
so girls i want to know
hi,,u hv very right informatin abut it,,,as a year back i hv done this n i tell u dat i had my originall nails gr888 very strong n kept on getting long always but after the acrylic process my nails r so much damaged, the nails skin is gone rough or thin type n very bad condition, although acrylic nails look gr88,i think next time i ll go 4 artificial acrylic instead of on my own nails.
my sister has had gel nails for almost 2 months now, but her original nails are still strong. i suggest you get your nails done and if you don't like them, get them off after three weeks instead of maintaining them. one application should not harm your nails and you will also get what you have always wanted!
wannabe_a_mum, there are certain days during a month and after childbirth when muslim women do not pray. they can certainly get acrylic nails then, so it's not that big of a deal.
^Yes but those 'certain' days especially for girls not giving birth aren't that long.. 5-7 days at most. You can get the nails for those days. However, I think Wannabeamum was talking about regular days when one cannot pray with such nails on because the wudu isn't valid.

Yes Shay that's what I meant............
I mean wouldn't it work out a bit expensive to get them for like 5-7 days at the most????
Probably better to get stick on nails for this length of time - you get some really good quality ones these days
I didn't/don't mean to offend anyone, but I come across a lot of ignorance on this subject..........especially those brides that get Acrylics for their wedding ceremonies........
it's not always abut fashion with these nails. my nails are naturally very strong, so i have personally never had them done, but my sister has naturally weak nails that break easily and look really bad. that's one reason why she opted to get gel nails done.
what are the stick ones btw?
When I was in the working world, I had those nails, sometimes the silk ones and sometimes the acrylic. They always look beautiful, they hold polish without chips much better. But when you remove them, they take off the top couple of layers of your own nail. You have to keep up with getting manicures weekly. AND you have to be REALLY careful about fungus. Many nail salons, if they see a green spot on your natural nail, will paint it over with a fungicide and then continue. That is SO bad to do!!!!!! and actually illegal to do in USA anyway. If you see a green/brown spot on your own nail, you should have ALL the fake nail removed and see a doc for a prescription fungicide.
This fungus happens when air and/or water gets underneath the fake nail. Washing dishes, doing laundry etc can cause it. If you have them, use rubber gloves whenever your hands get wet or even damp. This protects the polish too.

Stick on nails look the same as acrylics, you buy them in packs with either nail glue or stick on self adhesive pads. Personally I think that the ones with pads are better.
You can get them in any store that sells cosmetics/nail polish etc
