Re: need Hareera recepie???
are you sure it's prepared with suji and milk?
I dont think its made with sooji and milk, my parents marocian nabour made it with lentils, lots of greens and noodles. really yummy.
I found this in one of my books and it looks like the one
250 g meat ( beef) cut in very tiny tiny cubes
2 onion chopped
200 g chickpeas soaked overnight. remove the "chilka" from the chickpes after soaking.
100 g any kind of lentils , also soaked overnight.
1 glass of chiken stock/cube
100 g nudles
1 tsp safran
1 tsp crushed ginger
1 tsp butter/oile
fresh parsley chopped
fresh coriander chopped ( the one with big leafs, not the desi one)
150 tomato puree
100 g flour
5 tomatoes, scoled and remove the skin and chop in small cubes
1 selleri
Brown onions in butter/oile, add meat cubes, safran and ginger. season with salt and pepper. add stock and chikpeas. boil for few minuts and add more water ( atleast 800 ml), koriander, parsley and selleri and boil for 30 min.
add tomatoes and boil for another 20 min. add nudles, boil 5 min.
mix tomatp ouree , flour with little water and add this in with the soup. let it simer under lid.
garnish with dates.
hopes this help you
^ That's the recipe (close to) for harees but garnish with DATES? It tastes like haleem why wud u garnish it with dates? Never heard of it.. hareera is a drink isn't it with almonds and pistachio's etc? AND sooji/ghee sugar?

the harira, (somewhere known as harissa) i know is a maroccian soup, and in the orginal recipie , it is optional if one want to garnish with dates/figs and lemon or have these things on a side dish.
the other drink , i have tasted, but do not know the name
Re: need Hareera recepie???
there 2 2 words hareesa dat is made of lentils n meat ect but harrera is something like milk, soji almonds ect..pure desi drink or desert type...
Re: need Hareera recepie???
Ok heres the recipe, my mother makes it very well so I got it from her:
In 2 tbsp ghee add 6 whole illaichis, 5-6 tbsp sooji and fry till gives off fragrance and slightly changes colour. Then add 1 litre milk, little at a time, add 10-12 tbsp sugar, cook on medium heat and keep stirring. The consistency in the end should be runny but thick. Add your choice of nuts on top.
Re: need Hareera recepie???
This recipe is family size, adjust the ingredients accordingly when making a single serving. Its a very nutritional drink, especially for kids and especially in winters.
Re: need Hareera recepie???
My MIL makes it the way wondergurl describes. BUt i didnt know it was called hareera.
Also i thought harissa is made with wheat and meat and didnt have noodles and such in it?
Re: need Hareera recepie???
Girls, I don't know the recipe but I know they do make sweet hareera too...It's real fluid, since milk is the base, with loads of ground nuts and in the last step, you do baghaar/tadka with cloves/cardamom fried in quite a lot of desi ghee. I've had it only a couple of times since it's REALLY rich and fattening but nutritious. People usually eat/drink it during ramadan.
Harees, hareesa are the "haleem-like" soup made with wheat and meat etc.. and harira is the drink. What did the poster ask for? confused
I'm thinking she is looking for "Hareera" recipe since Harees or Hareesa surely doesn't call for suji and milk, does it?
Nope!
