Khan, welcome to the forum :)

The question you asked in one and half lines, will require an answer involving lots of efforts and excercises. In short, see the following:

*Sar jhukaao ge to pathar dewtaa ho jaaye ga
itna mat chaaho ussey, woh bewafaa ho jaaye ga
*

This is the matla (first couplet) of ghazal by Bashir Badar. Words in red are qafiya and words in green are radeef. The meter (wazn) of this sheir could be digitally defined in this way: ** 2122, 2122, 2122, 212**. I hope it makes some sense to you :)

yep, thats why he asked for a book. yes, ilm e 'urooz is a vast subject and it requires a lot of effort and patience and practice to master. i also think that its NOT necessary to learn ilm e 'urooz to do shaa'irii in bahr. i do NOT deny the importance of it but what i meant is that you can do away without it.**

I wrote some ghazals but my friends told me that it was out of meter .. and has issued with Qafia and radeef...

here is one

Ajab hai ishq o muhabath ki bathein
kab se hai buuth ikk banni woh

Kis ko khayal hai soodo zian ka
Ker jaye koi shararath sahee woh

Azal se karah hoon ikk do rahe per
maan jaon haar ke maath daidegi woh

khamoshi mein he hai subkuch pinhaan
hai iss mein qiamath wohiker gayee woh

nigah mein masthi ajab hai woh hasthi
kabhi hai woh shirk kabhi bandagee woh

Bus itni rafaqat chahiye Tanweer
Maan jaye humko ikk ajnabi woh

my freind told me it should be like this

ho na ho ithni rafaqath ho muyassar humko
ajnabi ker lain bhalai app thasawe humko

In plain language qafia is a rhyming word

Some of your last sentences qafiyaaas are not matching when you read them it doesn’t sound like qafias at all :konfused: I don’t have much knowledge of shairi but something doesn’t seem balance in this ghazal. I am sorry if I hurt your ghazal.
