Here is something Ive been meaning to try, looks really simple and delicious

Peanut Butter Brownie Pie

1 pkg. (450 g) brownie mix
1-1/2 cups cold milk
1 pkg. (4-serving size) Vanilla Instant Pudding
1/2 cup Smooth Peanut Butter, divided
1 cup thawed Whipped Topping

HEAT oven to 350ºF. Prepare brownie batter as directed on package; pour into greased 9-inch pie plate. Bake 30 min. Cool completely. Scoop out centre, leaving 1/2-inch-thick rim around edge and thin layer of brownie on bottom. Reserve pieces.

BEAT milk and pudding mix with whisk 2 min. Add 1/3 cup of the peanut butter; mix well. Stir in whipped topping. Spoon into crust; top with reserved brownie pieces.

MICROWAVE remaining peanut butter in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min.; stir. Drizzle over pie. Refrigerate 2 hours or until pie is set. Refrigerate leftovers.

Re: Need dessert ideas...

A sheet cake is always nice, easy to make and can be really beautiful...you make a vanilla sheet cake, frost it with either white frosting or with whipped cream and then top it with fruit. The fruit that you use can be used to create designs...ie., my aunt used to make a 4th of July cake with blueberries and strawberries to make the american flag on the cake. So for a baby shower, you could use pink grapefruit or watermelon for pink, blueberries for blue etc.

Then for an extra dessert, carrot halva or rice pudding is really nice too. But dont forget the poor pregnant person....when I was pg, I HAD to have my dark chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce topped with a tower of whipped cream every day or EVERYONE who came near me paid the price lol!

If you want a really different cake try Papaya Cake or Humming Bird cake. Both taste delicious!!

Re: Need dessert ideas…

theres this great coffee cinnamon chocolate squares i make from a recipe by dorie greenspan (who is MAGIC) - its delicious with tea or just a glass of cold chocolate milk. plus, its insanely easy. i splurge and make it with really good quality chocolate from williams-sonoma. its divine and very different.
here it is:
bakingsheet: Cinnamon Chocolate Squares

Cinnamon Chocolate Squares

Cake:
1 1/4 cups + 2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp + 2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp instant coffee/espresso powder
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk (I used nonfat)
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
10 tbsp butter, melted and cooled(unsalted)
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips or 3 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped

Glaze:
6 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
2 1/2 tbsp butter, soft

Preheat oven to 350F. Butter an 8-inch square cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon and the espresso powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, the remaining cinnamon and salt.
In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla and slightly cooled, but melted, butter. Pour into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
Pour half of the batter into the prepare pan, spreading it evenly over the bottom. Evenly sprinkle on sugar/espresso mixture and mini chocolate chips, then top with the remaining batter, spreading it evenly.
Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350F, just until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and remove the parchment. Let cool completely before frosting.

For the glaze, melt together the chocolate and the butter either in a double boiler (or on low power in the microwave, as I did) and stir until smooth. If it is runny, let it stand for a minute or two, but otherwise the chocolate should be thick, smooth, shiny and spreadable. Spread on the top of the cake (the flat bottom side should be facing up, which makes it easy to frost) and allow the frosting to set up before serving.

Makes 12 servings.

Re: Need dessert ideas...

Hi Alisha, maybe you can consider this for ur second dessert which is my all time fav and is called "sweet walnut toffee" .one of my relatives made it n i took the recipe from her .the best part is that there is no cooking involved just layering stuff..

the ingredients for this recipe are:
fresh cream
condensed milk
marie biscuits
milk
canned mix fruit
walnuts

method:
- crush the marie biscuits n layer them in a dish. Sprinkle some milk on them but dont' get them too soggy.
- now layer the canned mix fruit
- layer some walnuts
- last .. mix 3-4 tablespoons of condensed milk in approximately 250 g of fresh cream.. if u like it sweeter, add a bit more of the condensed milk. whisk it a bit n layer this cream.
- refrigerate it before serving

it's ready :P

Thanks for pouring in the ideas everyone…really appreciate it!!
