Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)

Afia,
I also nursed Safia till she was 26 months. She was very attached to it, so weaning was very hard but she cried it out. She had a terrible cow milk allergy so her pediatrician also supported extended breastfeeding. I was surprised she never tried to bite me. Now I've been nursing Maya and it seemed more painful starting this time for some reason. i got cracked nipples and used Lanolin. I had to do alot of deep breathing techniques for the first 5 days to ignore the pain but we've gotten past it now. On day two while I still had only colostrum i was very worried that she'd be hungry and ended up giving her a couple bottles of soy formula to fill her tummy so she could sleep. It's easy to 'give up' on breastfeeding and feel like you have inadequate supply during these first few days. But when your actual milk comes in around day 3-5 then you have these two rocks on your chest.
Engorgement is the next thing to deal with when your milk comes in. So feed baby on demand and often to ease the pain.
