Need Book Suggestions

I’d appreciate some titles/authors for Islamic books. One or two being books about Hajj, either the experience or peoples accounts of it. Nothing too long or difficult to read.

The rest of the books can be about anything, but I request that you only list books you have actually read yourself and really enjoyed and learned from.

Books can include anything relating to Qur’an, Hadith and Sahabah (RA).

Thanks.

Re: Need Book Suggestions

The one book about Hajj I found to be the most easiest to follow and authentic about Hajj, was the book published by Darusalam publications in UK specifically for Hujjaj...It's indispensable as far authentic Duas and rites of Hajj are concerned...

Re: Need Book Suggestions

I'm reading The Veil and the Male Elite (yeah still, just trying to read a little at a time). Its really good, but not for people who have trouble opening their mind to the possibilities of there being alternative literature and historical evidence out there that contradicts what people have usually been told since they were kids. Definitely not for people who think a female's only role is to procreate, and sit chup chap at home.

Re: Need Book Suggestions

The Veil and the mail elite.....it is written by a person who spend her life mostly in a whorehouse.

Munni ....I'm reading 'tafseer ibn kathir' and Ibrahim(AS)a nation in one man by Jibaly. Also I'm waiting for Hamza Yusuf's book about Jesus(AS)'s sayings.....

Re: Need Book Suggestions

At the mo'
I'm reading 'The History of Islam' by Akbar Najeebabadi,

I've just got half way through vol.1 out of 3
so far so good.

Re: Need Book Suggestions

I recommend P.H. Klasse. Anything by him.

Re: Need Book Suggestions

How DARE you say something so horrible about someone? Your threads and holier than though attitude has just fallen through the hole my friend. You're not any closer to religion than Satan with that sort of attitude. She's a professor in Morocco and has her degree in sociology. She certainly isn't some whore.

Ridiculous the stuff people come up with. I need to copy and paste your uncouth comments in all those religion threads that you start up where you try to make it seem like you're some real religious person. You're such a hypocrite!

Re: Need Book Suggestions

I did'nt lie...did I?This is the fact....she was born and grew up in a whorehouse...what do you call it in arabic harem....

Look I didn't call her a whore. However, her perception of men will be skewed based on the type of males she has seen in the harem. I'm not surprised she became a feminist after being brought up in that unIslamic environment.

Munni asked for Islamic stuff and you came up with this radical feminism stuff.

Re: Need Book Suggestions

Munni,
Here are my some …

Seerat un Nabi
by: Allama Shibl Nomani and Syaed Suliman Nadvi
It consists of 7 volume, and the most recognised book on Seerat Rasool :saw:

Get one Translation of Quran
Get complete volumes of Saha Sitta ( Seven books of Hadees)

You will find every thing in these books, no need to go to any Mulla and Gs Mulli or Mulla

Re: Need Book Suggestions

This "radical Islamic stuff" comes straight from historical books written in the time period after the Prophet's death - the same ones that are used by scholars when desiring support for other theories they feel are perfectly Islamic.

Its so easy to pick and choose and turn a blind eye to literature that is out there, but hasn't been cross-referenced much because surprise-surprise: most muslim scholars historically have been male, many of which have been serving as political puppets.

Re: Need Book Suggestions

Did anyone read 'No God but God' by Reza Aslan, is it worth the read?
