need advice about what to buy

hey guys,
I have been browsing threads about what the absolute essentials are for a new born baby but I am still confused as to what to buy. I think I have all the essentials in terms of clothes and small items. We currently live in a two bedroom apartment and will be here for only 3 months after the baby is born. I am trying to steer clear of buying things that are huge cause it will be a pain trying to sell them. so far we haven’t bought a crib, a bassinet or a playpen. intially, i was planning on having the baby on the same bed as hubby and me but as the date gets closer…I am not loving the idea. we have a queen bed and I just don’t think I will be comfortable trying to fit the three of us in the same bed (gotta get my sleep!) so, my question is, what do you recommend is a good product to invest in for the next 3 months that will make both my life and the baby’s life easier?

I came across this http://www.amazon.com/Arms-Reach-Co-Sleeper-Bassinet-Convertible/dp/B00198F1X8/ref=zg_bs_677977011_1
anyone use this? this might be able to save us some space but I am not sure.

help!

Re: need advice about what to buy

Very useful for newborns! My cousin has one of those and it's really easy cos you just pull it next to your bed while you sleep. Feeding and diaper changes are easy cos you don't have to get up and do all that in the middle of the night. Doesn't take up loads of space either.

Re: need advice about what to buy

i second that. its a great product and you'll be able to sell it pretty easily after you are done with it too.

Check out Moses Baskets theyr pretty good and in-expensive and dont take up much space. Easy to transport too, n can b used as a toy basket afterwards.

Re: need advice about what to buy

^ they have a 12 lb weight limit though so it depends on how heavy her kid is at birth and how quickly he grows. or she. i had a very big baby mA so the moses basket would have lasted me less than a month.

Re: need advice about what to buy

so I was looking around for the arms reach bassinet and its very hard to find it in Canada. They have some specialty stores that carry the brand but none in Winnipeg where I live which sucks..I don't want to order it online cause returning it will be a hassle...sigh. was at zellers today and they had a playpen with bassinet on sale for $40.00 by a company called Avalon. can't find anything on it online though. anyone use a playpen? is it useful?

Re: need advice about what to buy

^ we never got a playpen BUT i do know quite a few people who used it when traveling, as a place for baby to sleep. most of them are easy to transport.

Re: need advice about what to buy

the graco avalon is a discontinued playpen, which is probably why it was for sale for such a low price. i googled it and just this came up-
some instructions/solutions to potential problems- Avalon playpen Problems

if you do want a playpen/play yard, there are lots of other ones available at babies r us and walmart. i believe sears and zellers would also carry those so hopefully you can find one near you.

i’d pick a model that is still in production because it likely has updated safety standards and will be under warranty.

Re: need advice about what to buy

We had the Graco Pack n Play for the twins…it was a life saver! We took the changing table/attachment thingy off completely, and then had it in our bedroom, or moved it to the living room during the day…My choozas (being preemies) could both, fit/sleep in one playpen until they were almost 6 months old! :cb:

ohh i didnt know that lol i personally dont like them i wud rather go to ikea for a cot and assemble it then disassemble wen moving house x

Re: need advice about what to buy

playpen all the way. we used it for my daugher in place of her crib whenever we were at grandma's house and she will still be able to use it when older.
