Need access help

Any database developer here? if so, tell me onething, how can it be possible to get rid of cents in currency format, if you are using list box and its in footer of a report. Because, I know you can do this if you are using a text box and in a report body. I have been trying to get rid of this stupid cents stuff, but m not successful. I did use the query and query helps till inside of body of the report, other than that it simply shows the cents with the currency. I am on the verge to either destroy my own creation (database) or kill myself, cuz this is the last thing which has to be done.

e.g. instead of 65000.00, i want it to show 65000.

any help will be appreciated.

Re: Need access help

This can be done several ways depending on the project. You should have mentioned the database server and your method of report generation. Do you want to completely change the column type or just want to hide decimalisation on reports?
Please make your problem more clear.

Re: Need access help

I just want to hide the decimals, thats all. I don’t want to change anything. I don’t see any option to set decimals limitation in properties of this list box. However, I have done it on table and also in query and it works. It just doesn’t work on report. (do i make any sense here, if I don’t, I think my fever has taken over my half brain).

Re: Need access help

Oh I just overlooked the title of this thread. You are using MS Access.

Well, open the table in design view. Then select the column or field (whatever you call it in Access), then change the decimal places to 0 (zero).

Usually, I dont use access but I have tried this some moments ago and I also viewed the report, it doesnt show any decimal fraction.

Re: Need access help

Open the table in design view and select the number field which you would like to make changes to. Then, at the bottom you'll find a group box which says 'Field Properties'. In there, change the format to 'General Number'. This should give you the desired result.

Here's a screeny to help:

Re: Need access help

thanx nos let me try that.

Gizzy yes bro, how is u.

Ihtesham, yes I am using MSaccess, no that wont help me, cuz I have done that already.

I am a member of several forums, but they all seem to be confuse, thats why I thought why not turn to gupshup, since we do have a lot of pros here too. thanx again nos :)

Re: Need access help

Changing Data Type just to display results differently in few areas is not wise. If the purpose of the column is to hold currency values then it must have the relevant data type (mostly beneficial in the long run).

I can think of an easy solution should work for you. Use the Round() Function in the query to display the values in desired format.
Here is what you need.

Re: Need access help

^yeh that's true not a good idea to change colum type just for a report ...

Re: Need access help

Peeeedeee: Me be ok, but how you been ? :hoonh: and why you ghayab..

Re: Need access help

been there done that, it takes away currency sign as well. almost same function as GN. So wont help me, I have tried many ways around it, but nothing seem to be working. Cuz I am gonna lose the currency sign, I told my boss already, but I was thinking if I can come up with something. Oh, well, thank you all for your help. Much appreciate it.

Gizzy bro, I don’t have any time left for myself, Work, Home and thats pretty much my life is, even at home I am doing job work. So go figure  but I am enjoying all the new projects. M doing well as well, thank you. Take care of urself bro, and be good, salam to all GS ppl.

Re: Need access help

PD

i think it is pretty straight forward to remove the decimal places from a field in report :-s or may be i havent got the problem right…

okies anyways

as you can see in first pic, you open the report in ‘design view’ and then right click on the problematic field and click on properties

[thumb=H]rep116847_2726283.JPG[/thumb]

now you can see the decimal places, change it to zero or whatever you want…

i hope it helps…

Here is the picture of my report, yes I crop the imp parts out :stuck_out_tongue: Can’t let anyone know what company this report belongs to  Anyways, look at the bottom(footer) thats where all the calculation is, I didn’t want the the decimal to show up there; however, I talked over with my boss and he is okay with not having currancy sign in there, and thats why I made it general number. It’s not only about properties, cuz field’s row source is depending on a query and in order to change the properties of its query, main table properties had to be in order as well.

Gizzy bro, thanx a lot. Yeah I understand, but you are not married yet bro :stuck_out_tongue: Right now I am living three lives. Its not as easy as it may seem
