Willing to pay for lunches, dinners, or cash if really necessary. I am a Pathan by birth but have lived in the US all my life and want to learn my native language. Male or Female, it’s not an issue for me, if it is not an issue for you. Please no guntotting relatives if you are female!
Thanks I appreciate the help, but I am looking for someone who really knows the language and is patient and won't laugh if I muck things up when I try to say them. I really need someone who has sort of a training or educational type background who understands the grammer as well as the more common vernacular of the language.
Wiseman, I am sorry that you don't like Pathans, I think you would like me if we met and had a chance to be friends. I am unlike any other Pathan you will ever meet. Having said that though, I know that Pathans in general are or can be very private, clique-ish, and self-righteous, but where it counts, they are very nice people and you would be hard pressed to find truer friends. Although I think one did just shoot a US soldier in the head a few weeks ago, that was horrible.
Shikra, Salaam means peace, it is also a greeting, I do say it out of courtesy, but I mean it in my heart as well. Salaam alaikum. Although, I am not a Muslim now, I was one previously, but of course that opens up a whole other can of worms....
Mirch thank you for the sites I will try and make use of them, but I would really want someone who can speak conversationally. I understand Pushto/pukhto fairly well, I want to be able to speak it more fluently.
