Need a new Vacuum

My vacuum died this weekend. The last one I purcahsed was 8 years ago. I was looking online and I am royally confused with all the brands and options likde bagless and hipa filters and such.

I just want to vacuum and don’t need that many gizmos and gadgets - can recomendations that would last me another 8 years?

I need it mostly for carpet, some hard wood floors and stairs.

Are dysons worth the price? I hear they are really heavy as well.

Go with Dyson. It is beyond comparison.

The all floor version (# 24 I believe) is pretty light and retails for about $ 399. target recently had a promo where they were giving a $ 75 gift card on the purchase of the vaccum. That made it a really sweet deal :)

Punjabee - is it heavy? Can it lug it up the stairs without breaking my back?

Do I seriously want to pay that much for a vacum?

Re: Need a new Vacuum

^ Yeah I would say the same. We have this bagless Dyson one but it's not brand new, like we've had it for sometime now, but it just works sooo good. We have some beigeish carpet n some hardwood, it really does a great job at picking up the dust. Even the carpets/rugs feel so clean and revamped.

I would suggest you to invest a little in it, esp if you're wanting it to last 8 years. Even if you spend close to 200-300 bucks, that's like $25 a year, which is totally worth it IMO. It'd be a waste of money spending a little less and being stuck with something that doesn't do the job.

Re: Need a new Vacuum

Are central vacuuming systems available/popular over the pond? It's just a hole in a wall and you connect a vacuum stick to it, and you're off!! We have a couple on all floors....

In our old house, i used to use a Dyson... they're definitely worth the investment NJ :)

Re: Need a new Vacuum

Maroush - we do have central vacumming system in the newer construction - but they aren't that good.

We had one in our old town home and opted out to get one in this house.

Okay so I should narrowing down dysons then I guess.
