Need some ideas please…

Re: Need a Costume
A long flowing gown… eye mask of the same colour (with sparkles or a feather)…red or maroon lipstick…curly hair … eye makeup… minimal (but sparkly) jewelry :k:
Re: Need a Costume
that sounds nice....but the long flowy gown is the problem. I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a costume.....really I'll never use it again.....
Re: Need a Costume
It doesn’t have to be something new. What kind of dresses do you already own? Can you use one of those?
You know our Pakistani full length dresses these days can easily be worn to these type of events too. The non-extravagant, plain but flowy dresses.
Examples:
Rani Emaan collection in USA, Portfolio of Sobia Saloon - Sobia Saloon
Re: Need a Costume
good point.
problem is that all my outfits in this style are in really bright colours....nothing really subdued or basic black.
I'll have another look in the closet.
Re: Need a Costume
Can't you hire something from a fancy dress shop?

Can't you hire something from a fancy dress shop?
everything they will have will be very OTT.
I want a subtle hint of the theme......cuz this is for my office and going overboard is never appropriate here.
Re: Need a Costume
What size do you wear, Muzna? I have one black full length dress in chiffon and one in light purple which is more of a daytime/summer formal dress.
You could check out the clearance racks at Le Chateau or Melanie Lyne and see if you like something there.
There is a dress shop in Buffalo that I shopped at a couple years back...can't recall the name at the moment. Anyhow, they had their season end sale at the time and almost everything was roughly 60-75% off. My mom went nuts. She bought a few fancy dresses which she later took back to Pakistan and turned them into wearable, decent desi style dresses. I remember my khalas were drooling over the work, dress style and fabric quality. You should stock up on at least one or two dresses in off season so when an occasion arrives, you have some options.
Re: Need a Costume
that's very generous of you madz....thank you for the offer....I'm not very good at wearing borrowed items so I'll take your advice and go hunting for something.
there's loads of stuff out there for Christmas right now and I'm bound to find something.....
I would wear a nice formal suit preferably in black...stilettos.....blouse which should he flimsy and flow-y...A dangly necklace... And leave the theme for the hair and mask.... Really work up the hair..lots of.volume.....and wear an awesome.mask....make it yourself. It shouldnt be hoochie mama colorful....but Black, silver, with maybe some red outlining....and lots of sparkles...and a feather or 2.

Need a Costume
This is what I'm doing for Halloween as well! Where do you live Muzna? You can go to forever 21, all those summer flowey dresses in georgette are all on sale anywhere you go rightnow for like super cheap. 2B, Forever 21, Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe. You'll definitely find something in on those. I am also going to go look for something this weekend. I found a black mask for $5 at Icing.
Need a Costume
Because its Halloween right now you shouldn't have to much trouble finding anything and look for summer dresses on sale since they are getting rid of them.

Here are some pictures from doing extra research as to how to make your own mask out of some lace fabric! Its so unique and looks super chic. Dress doesnt even have to be black, just add a bunch and bling and youll be good to go. If you have a pencil skirt or maxi skirt with a fancy top will also do. Here are some ideas I’m thinking of doing for inspiration. I love the DIY lace masks, just grab some glue and add jewels and glitter and you can completely make it match your dress once you find it in any color. Everything can be found at a fabric store. Heck, if you have a lehgna bottom, put that on with a plain top tucked in with a belt and add jewelry to complete the outfit and then find or make a matching mask. To give you an idea, I am making myself a sequin maxi skirt in a gold or pink and then just throwing on a black top (wife beater or camisole.)
DIY masks…grab some lace and youll be set. Even a lace ribbon from the dollar store will due it. Add some sparkles and anything else..

Re: Need a Costume
I absolutely LOVE the maxi skirt idea.....especially if I can find one that is really super-flowy.
perhaps with a black chiffon blouse and a sequined cami inside...?
the masks are all over the place for halloween right now.....I just want to find one with peacock feathers....

That sounds so pretty! Let me know where you find yours if you do! Dress it up with a pretty matching belt and you'll be set.
