Btw, I asked this question earlier as well. If anybody predicts 2-1 score and the actual result is 1-0, would that be counted for 1 point (as the difference is still 1 goal) or 0.5?

There u go... Divid viyaa did it. He was nt playing in last two matchs and when he got opportunity , he scored goal. Shame shame shame on Spanish Coach.

Pretty much, he is a better striker and knows all the Barca teammates well and with him they play him as a striker who rotates and changes positions and doesn't play up front all match. He's also played the proper midfield today with Cazorla and someone who can make runs and open up defences. Playing with Xavi and Alonoso in the same time in their current form was astonishing.
Saying that, this is Australia who's players play in the lower English divisions. Big difference from Chile and Netherlands.

And he’s played Mata who’s scored as well.
For Spain Xavi, Casillas etc are undroppable just like India would never drop Tendulkar. Spain and Barca have the same players who play the same system but both have struggled because the way they play football can’t be sustained using older players who can’t run around anymore.
Spain last WC had Xavi Iniesta Alonso and Fabregas in midfield and Villa up front but all of them younger and at the peak of their football. Villa moves around so at times they had no striker and it seemed that is their best formation. 4-6-0 essentially with no striker and Villa as a luxury attacking midfielder who would drift in.
Now they have the same players but all older and fading fast, don’t have the legs to run around all game and with Costa are not used to playing with a striker. The consequence? Spain played crap, created pretty much zero chances, hence the entire system failed. Midfield was too crap and everytime they lost the ball the opposing team went forward and scored.
Silva plays for City and is very good for them but doesn’t work on the big stage.
They played better today due to a change in tactics but also Australia’s defence is probably the poorest in the WC which helps a lot.

To be fair this is Australia we’re talking about (sorry Maula :p). They are a good team but their players play in the lower divisions unlike Chile and Holland who’s players play in some of the best teams in the world But you’re right. He messed up the system needlessly.
Mata, Cazorla, Fabregas and Koke should have all played and didn’t. Midfields make chances, if you have idiots in midfields then say bye bye.

^You are right. But stil i think villa can score goals against sides like netherland and chilli. It was painful to watch these players for the last time as many will be retired before next world cup. Infact goldent football generation of spain comes to an end.

True. Xavi will end up being one of the greatest players to play football but he was past it this WC. Same with Alonso.
