neck/shoulder pain - extreme

:frowning: ok so i had a car accident in m y college days - some guy said he “didnt see the red light” and plowed into my precious 1967 mustang at 45 miles per hour. My poor mustang looked like a squished accordian and cause the seats are so low, I got the most awful bruised kidney from slamming into the steering wheel and whiplash in my neck so bad that I had to move around by grabbing myself by the hair. ANYway, this was years ago. I didnt break any bones, I went to hospital and had x-ray of neck. But every now and then, I get this PAIN in my neck and left shoulder like a pinched nerve. Went to doc a couple of times and they always send me in a panic to have my heart tested. SHEESH man, its not my heart!! Once, after a month of heart testing, they DID send me for physical therapy and this DID help muchly. Warm wet heat and massage and there was also this laser light therapy that made the pain almost disappear by the end of the session.

My question is…how can I go to doc and bypass all this heart testing sheet. And how can we figure out exactly what is wrong in my neck/shoulder? DO these MRIs show damaged/pinched nerves?

Yeah yeah I know…GS is just a forum and yeah I should go back to doc…I just would so love to have more info and be more educated on the types of injuries that can cause the type of pain that I have…I do not have the time with 3 young 'uns to go futzing around with unnecessary tests and procedures so lets get to the POINT here yeah?

Thank you so much to anyone who has some useful advices!!

Re: neck/shoulder pain - extreme

Do you go to a new doctor every time ? If you just go to one doctor every time then I guess they will hold on to this heart related stuff. Also keep a copy of your previous heart related tests and procedures when you need to go see a doctor when you have this kind of pain. If the tests are too old they might still do the tests , they do not want to take chances if your symptoms and the symptoms of a heart patient are same. You should not be taking chances either.
May Allah give you best of health. Ameen.

Re: neck/shoulder pain - extreme

Does your insurance allow you to see a neurologist without a referal? If yes, then make an appointment with one. They will get some MRIs done and based on the results, get you on a good treatment plan.

Also, take warm showers at night and sleep on a rolled towel or roll pillow kinda thing right under the neck. It realllllllllllly helps. And 600 mg over the counter Ibuprofen round the clock does the job too.

I fell a few years ago, went through PT as well. But I worked for neurosciences and was able to get treated right away!

Get an MRI, and see a masseuse (preferable medical masseuse, but you can see an esthetician for a relaxation massage).

Look into seeing a chiropractor.
And get a new doctor.
