People who survive from near death experience do tell they saw themselves being lifted up and being revived by doctors/nurses. (Out of body experience). They also tell, they came back to their bodies.
True or false, no one can be sure.

My father had suffered sevre Heart arrests and then undergone By-Pass surgery in 2007.He had been in the I.C.U for 40 consecutive days and came back to life from an almost death.He said he used to have dreams or visions of strange lights and weird people during his times of extensive suffering.He was salways petrified and was restless.When I reported this to doctors they told me it was because of I.C.U syndrome.(That's a patient when remains in the closed room of I.C.U ,being barred from exposoing to Day and Night and evn time ,the brain takes the mind to such felings). But I still doubt their version.I believe he was in another world.

could the white light perhaps not have something to do with the afterlife?!
