So it looks like we’re gonna be stuck at home tomorrow (Sunday) – a massive snow storm for Ontario has emergency crews on high alert… We’re expecting 30 to 40 cms where I am (Ottawa valley).
How do you plan on spending the day at home tomorrow? It’s gonna be pretty darn depressing even to look out the window
you wish JB... I took a hiatus/sabbatical and then was called back in another capacity - moderated General for a bit... followed by C&A... been sticking to it since while helping out in other admin matters off and on.
while it snows outside, appreciate the frozen silence and nature's power in there. maybe take some snaps of snow falling.
take this time to relax, and spend with your family.
read an intresting article from a diff field and write its critique
plan ahead some back up schedule for the coming weeks
if you have house plants, prune them
catch up on any pending bill payments
watch a movie that you have been wanting to watch
call up a friend whom you have not heard from
make coffee or nice sandwiches for your loved ones
( yes, good guys can be good at this, i am sure:>)
clean up your computer cds and desk and study room
place an order for something you have been wanting on line
if you have a niece's or a nephew's snaps, make a new year' calendar for them, with their snaps. (you will need to get it bound by some printing shop)
iron your clothes, if you have some unpressed ones
decorate your living room, rearrange things
with your family, if you like
thank God for what you have, offer a special prayer to recount your blessings
and shovel when you have to
hum badmaash hain kya

uss kay alawa eid / bakra eid pay naya shalwar qameez ka suit dainay ka bhi wada kiyaa thaa ehsan bhai nay - woo bhi nahi diyaa

Wow that’s a pretty intense list Dushwari ji… the thing is that the miserable weather outside affects me even when I’m inside. It’s not like I don’t have stuff to do. I’m prolly gonna spend my day grading exams and may be pick up my research data set and mine it some more. I just don’t want to step out and take regular breaks for fresh air.
As I write this, there’s a sort of a snow twister outside! :(

ottawa is getting a lot of snow these days .. :( i wanted to stay in but have to go out to work today and man it will suck :(
thanks for appreciating my list of suggestions for having a busy day inside when it's snowing outside.
same here, Umar bhai.
i feel some of the students are so bratty. they want an open book allowed on the final exam, and want to precisely know what will be on the exam. and they are not satisfied be the review, and even when encouraged to simply know the definitions of terms in the book, which were literally emailed to them a week ago, as detailed review. some of them did not show up in class at all, and are threatening that i just give away a straight A to them.
the thing is even though my own teaching eval has been exellent, they still have to evaluate the class on the final which is next week. yet, i do want to leave them with a solid notion of being responsible.
i will make their final so hard, that even with open book they will have quite a ringer to go through, simply for them to know and learn, that if they want to pursue grad school, these habits wnt stand a chance.
any advice? how i should briefly discuss this with them at the end of their exam?
i will pray that you n your family be safe in the twister. :>
