NCAA- march madness

what a last couple of weeks, with some favs crashing their seeds, teams that were not contendors in Jan are now on the bubble.

how are your teams faring?

I used to follow this quite a lot, still do a bit but not as much as the NBA.

4 #1s in the final four. the last one was amazing.
as much as I support my alma mater, after their performance against Davidson i dunno if they will win.
My money is on memphis, I think..

Tar heels got owned by Jayhawks. down by 28 points at one point, tried to come back but just when they thought they were in strikign distance.. the KU machinery just put it back in gear and sped ahead.

and Memphis just toyed around with UCLA like a cat toys around with a mouse.

I still think Memphis will win, but that depends on whethr we see the KU that played today or the KU that played davidson

I suck picking at NCAA games. Kansas D swarmed UNC. They prevented Hansbrough from getting the ball and when he does he's completely surrounded by two players. The weak help was there all night against Hansbrough. Aldrich made Tyler look like a little child out there. He will need another year in college before he is NBA ready.

anyways , the 1988 jayhawk team that won was led by danny manning, who is an asst coach at KU now, anyways..the team won due to free throw shooting, danny was fouled and sunk the two free throws to seal the deal.

It was scary watching the fianl this year because it was exact opposite. memphis could have done the same, 2 free throws..making them would mean game over..and they missed both.

with just over 2 seconds remaining KU gets a 3 pointer to tie the game and win it...it was too much.

but yeah baby!!!!

a tale of two tourneys so heavily impacted by free throws.

in 1988, oklahoma had no chance with manning taking the free throw that sealed the win making it mathematically impossible for oklahoma to win.

in 2008, Memphis had the same opportunity, funny thing was that Danny Manning who is the asst coach at KU now, was sitting there and looking at the same being done to his team, until memphis missed its free throws…kansas making an improbable 3 pointer to tie and then win the game and championship in overtime.
