NBA

I am not comapring MJ and kidd, read up. You are. I was proposing that that your thought process reeks of little understanding of the game and is based on watching tv.

How does Jason Kidd choke in the finals? He has been there twice, for god's sake. And this time around the series is tied 2-2. Which planet are you living on?

Jason kidd was never known to be a scorer. Infact, through out his career he had been asked to shoot more. He IS the quintessential point guard. Do learn what the position calls for before comparing him to hack such as Nash.

Here are the reasons for why Kidd is a MVP candidate.

Avg. 18.1/game, Led the League in assists, Avg. more than 5 rbds a game as a POINT GUARD (only PG in the top 50 players in the NBA), in the top 8 in steals, numberr 11 in the league with D/D and 4 t/D's this season. Compare that to all the PG's in league or most guards.

But most of all...he is the glue to the team. The offense flows (literally through him) A consumate leader on the court whose validation is there for people to see in the effort he gives everynight.

No one said that Jason kidd can take over the game like a Jordan or a Garnett or Kobe. But he can dominate in so many otherways. That is why people think that he is a viable MVP candidate.

Matsui - You wont get MVP by people thinking what you 'CAN' do on the court, You get an MVP for what you 'DO' on the court. Jason kidd was exceptional in one game but other 3 games his performance was much below his normal performance, as a leader he has been found wanting.

As for him in the top 50 players in NBA, I dont think he is in that list yet and even if he is there, he is not the only one, there are guys like Magic Johnson, John stockton already there in that list...

Go and compare your list of reasons for MVP with that of Duncan and Garnette, and tell us If he still deserves the MVP.

^ do you hink scotty pippen belongs in that list or even Patrick Ewing? pLease...give it a rest. J Kidd was superb last night. Single handedly keeping the Nets in the game. That is why people think of him as an MVP. Even then, the spurs won barely. PLease...pick up a basketball and go the park, it will become painfully clear.

29 Points in a losing effort was a great performance by Kidd, just goes to show you how the team is depended on Kidd.
How many times have San Antonio lost with Duncan scoring 29 points?

no no no no no :crying:

Spurs won the championship. Congrats.

New Jersey NETS still Rulez!

Congraulations to the San Antonio spurs. In the end the young boys from Jersey just could not sustain their play. Duncan played his best game yet and Stephen Jackson was deadly.

J Kidd did all he could. WEnt out with class and a great effort.

Also missed would be David Robinson. The last of the greats. A Man who led by example on and off the court. Kudos!!!

ditto :k:

they led for 3 quarters yaar…then that run

i wish kidd stays with the nets..:frowning:

Congratulate to Spurs fans

Great performance from both Robinson & Duncan, They deserve it they played as a team, every single player contributed they just didn't depend on Duncan, very balanced team.

It will be interesting to see Spurs next season w/out Robinson, he will leave big void in the team, and spurs must find someone to fill that gap.

Congrats to Spurs on a very deserving win, soon as they defeated the Lakers, they won the championship.
New Jersey never had any star power, Jason Kidd alone just couldn't simply carry the team on his shoulders.
I don't think Jason Kidd will be staying with the Nets but San Antonio won't be taking him as well.
I think he is a very good offering for Utah Jazz.

Umair,

I think he will not leave nets but if he did there aren't many competitive teams looking for Point Guard, Utah Jazz probably but Karl Malone may not even stay in Utah and I don't think Utah will be very competitive without Malone. Karl is a free Agent; I think there is a big chance the Karl may go to San Antonio or Lakers next season.

Umair316 - Duncan scored 40 points against Dallas in a playoff game, 36 points against Lakers in the play offs - SPURS lost both the times.

Matsui - Regardless of what you think, Tim Duncan is the MVP and not Jason Kidd.

Asif: Where in my posts have I said that Duncan is not an MVP. My posts have been to establish that Jason Kidd is a viable MVP candidate. If this series couldn't make that point clear enough, then my friend you have a lot mor learning to do about this game.

true..i think if he were to leave the nets, he would go to a more "competetive" team, a team that would "promise" him a title. and jazz doesn't fit in that category. if he really wants a title he's better off with the nets :(...the nets do treat him with a lot of respect, and will offer him the best they can. lets c what he decides. a month of uncertainty :(

nothing funnier than listening to a FOB talk american sports LOL.

I think Karl Malone has made his decision that he will be playing for the Lakers.
I don't think he will be in the starting lineup.

And plus it would be very unfair to Tony Parker who was very good during the playoffs to be traded by Jason Kidd, though Kidd is a better player but Tony Parker in 2 or 3 years in time will be very very good.
San Antonio should stick with him.

Its very likely that Kidd is looking for a ring so he won't be going to a east team.

I disagree, I think the Nets are very capable of winning the title, they had a very young team this year, guys like Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson are a huge prospect for the Nets team and top it off with Byron Scott is a very good coach, I can expect them to win a title in the next couple years.

San Antonio SPURS are NBA 2003 Champions!

Stephen Jackson (3) celebrates a trey basket

Fueled by a 19-0 fourth-quarter scoring explosion led mainly by Stephen Jackson's trey (former NETS member ;)), the SPURS defeated the NETS 88-77 to win their second NBA championship in five years. SPURS never led the game except in the fourth qtr; and once got the lead, they never looked back. Stephen Jackson's treys' burst the SBC Center into GO SPURS GO! New Jersey NETS just couldn't catch up with the pace of SPURS in the end but they were worthy opponent against SPURS; and performed much alot better than the previous year. The SPURS crowd did appluad for NETS when Chairman David Sterrn congragulated them.

This year Finals wasn't that much great but the 19-0 run by SPURS just shows how things change quickly sec by sec. This is SPURS' season highlight of the Year 2003!

  • NBA Finals 2003 MVP Tim Duncan's Performance

[thumb=B]capt.1055737268nba_finals_saa136.JPG[/thumb]

  • Points: 20
  • Rebounds: 10
  • Assists: 10
  • Blocks: 8

Tim Duncan has joined the list of Kareem, MJ, Larry Bird, Magic and Shaquille as he won both MVPs of Regular season and the NBA Finals. A Triple-double performance of what we have never seen in a decade. Damn! Not only that, Tim Duncan has blocked 31 shots in a series, recording another record for himself and for the SPURS, which will take years to be broken.

Since, SPURS have hired Timmy, they have won 2 Championship Titles in 6 years. This is Gregg Popovich's second ring with SPURS in 7 years. Year 2003 is the Best for SPURS. They were No. 1 in the regular season; ended Three-Peat of L.A LAKERS. Gregg Popovich was Coach of the Year; and Timmy did the rest. GLORY!

David Robionson celebrates!

David Robinson also added 13 points and 17 rebounds in the final game of his illustrious SPURS career. He'll remember this day(June 15, 2003) as long as he lives.

It's like the script was written for Big D. The performace he gave infront of home crowd on the Father's Day where his parents; children and fans watched him play for the last time. The Great Admiral called the day off!

  • David Robinson's Career Performance:

  • 1990: Rookie of the Year.

  • 1992: Defensive Player of the Year.

  • 1995: Regular Season MVP.

  • 1993 & 1996: Gold Medals in Olyumpic(sp?)

  • 1999: Member of SPURS Championship Squad.

  • 2003: Member of SPURS Championship Squad.

Had it not been David Robinson, you might be seeing New Orleans SPURS winning the 2 NBA Championship Title. Big D, not only stick together his team-mates but the whole community of San Antonio. Nevertheless, Big D, a complete Role Model for the Generations to come!
