Re: Nba 2005/2006
actually Heat will prefer to play Cavs than Pistons.
What do you guys think about LA's other team, Clippers. Anyone saw the double-OT game 5?

Re: Nba 2005/2006
This is gonna be fun!!!!!! woohoo - Three Game 7s
As a fan of the NBA how can you not be looking forward to these games? As a player what greater challenge than a game 7 on the road? It's going to be great.
There is no greater feeling for a longtime Elton Brand fan than to see him tearing up a playoff series like this. He is at like 30 points on 55%+ on top of 10 boards, 5 dimes and 3 blocks for the series average over 6 games. Best player in the series by far. Suns will come out swinging those knockout punches in game 7 though. That game could easily be a blowout if the Clippers aren't executing the exact gameplan from the opening tip.
The Mavs have to blow the Spurs out in game 7. I don't think they can beat them in a close game right now after letting up the 3-1 lead to have the series tied at 3. All the momentum is with the Spurs, their confidence can't be as high, and the inferiority complex might come back into play - the Mavs haven't been able to beat the Spurs or really take that next step.
Game 6 would have been nice for Cavs, and it was there for them when they could grab those 3 rebounds. But I've always felt this was a 7 game series and that the Cavs would prevail in a 7th game for the same reason they would prevail in the fourth quarter if they kept the games close. Lebron James. The Pistons have no answer for him. Nobody has any answer for him. I expect him to blow up in game 7 and leave the Palace a King.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
Home court would be big in these games... Pistons, Spurs and Suns it is.
Hats off to Lebron for making it this far. Now THAT is whom I call a captain...leading from the front.
I agree Nowitzki was a very strong candidate for the MVP award. If any white guy has made his mark after Lary Bird, it's him.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
Why this beating around the bush? Go ahead and say it LeBron > Kobe - it’s not like me and 5abi will kill you… lol
Re: Nba 2005/2006
You know it dude.. :-D I don't need to write it for you.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
Kobe > LeBron
You know that.. I don't have to explain it to you
:D
Re: Nba 2005/2006
That pre-game LeBron feature ruined everything - I just wish the media would die. I don't give a crap about Michael Jordan anymore. His career is over. Stop talking about him. Why are they still living in the past? It's annoying.
In a 7 game series, at the end of the day, the best team will always win. And bottom line the Pistons just have a better team. Cavs don't have a Lindsay Hunter to come off the bench and hit momentum changing 3's/aggressive defense, Wallace type player, PG like Billups, etc.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
^ why do u always have to act like a kid with a loud voice?
If u don't like Jordan then just hush it... no point in being a hater.
Just give your analysis on the current games... and we'll appreciate that as always.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
hellz ya. we gonna beat miami. 4th yr baby
Re: Nba 2005/2006
I am not a Jordan hater. I just don’t like living in the past. Maybe you missed out on pre-game feature which was terribly done - putting pressure on 21 year old.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
I didn't see all of it.... but these things are normal yar. Jordan is a sweet memory of NBA and they like to bring him in whenever they get a chance. They pay these tributes to the players who promoted the game of basketball and there is nothing wrong with that.
btw... Was LeBron watching that pre-game feature? just curious as i didn't see all of that feature on him n jordan?
in anycase..... this was expected. LeBron played his heart out in the first half. Sadly, his team didn't rise to the ocassion --- they missed too many open shots in the first half and that just took away the game plan. Nonetheless, a great run by these Cavaliers under King James... I don't think Miami can give Pistons this much of a hard time.
So how abt the picks for tonight??
Clippers and Spurs here...
Re: Nba 2005/2006
Genius - are you a regular NBA fan or do you just follow whoever plays in playoffs? I am all fine with MJ tribute - there's no denying that he is one of the greatest living legends today. I have problem with freaking media comparing MJ to kids today of new breed. Just a name few:
Kobe Bryant
Vince Carter
Michael Finley
Penny Hardaway
Grant Hill
LeBron James
Tracy McGrady
Jerry Stackhouse
Dwyane Wade
....and if you weren't old enough.. the very first.... HAROLD MINER
Re: Nba 2005/2006
What a series between Mavs and Spurs - really can't ask for much more from both teams. Dirk and Duncan both played at MVP-calibre level, and both teams played with heart.
Clippers had a good playoff debut here and Elton Brand did his thing in his first playoff appearance. Can't be too dissappointed with how far they got, but you'll always feel like you could have done more.
Dallas and Phoenix is going to make for an interesting WCF. Two run and gun teams, tells you how things have changed in last two seasons.
Miami-Detriot series is going to be war - Wallace Boys against Shaq, McDyness against Haslem/Walker, Rip/Billups vs Wade/Williams - matchups, matchups, matchups - that's all you can ask for!
Re: Nba 2005/2006
talha, i am prolly not as big as you on NBA or been watching the sport that long, but i have been following the sport since '97 ( bulls' last championship run )
anyway...i still don't get whats wrong with the comparisons. I certainly wouldn't mind being compared to MJ or even a role player if i ever make it. Infact, it will be honor. LeBron knew all along that he would have those comparisons .... he chose #23 afterall., so i don't think he blames the media for wat they did b4 game 7.
Mavs and Spurs series was really all u could ask for. Hats off to both teams... Although i felt bad for Spurs, Dallas deserved this chance ... Now the Pistons/Mavs series will be some finals series. The conference finals are gonna be fun too ... lookin' fwd to 'em
Re: Nba 2005/2006
It's going to be Heat vs. Mavs in the NBA finals. Mavs it is!
It's going to be an ugly half court game in the Eastern conference but I don't think Pistons will be able to 'stop' the Heat. Walker, Payton and Mourning need to play big though.
In the Western conference..what can you say! it's going to be all offense. Since Mavs have a comparitively better defense, they will get through. How about Diop last night..he did a good job on Duncan..that was the difference in O.T?
Re: Nba 2005/2006
Fine Genius - whatever makes you happy. :) My point was not every player can play at the same level as MJ did - because over the past decade the comparison have gone really baaaaaaaaadddddd.
Tonight is the game to watch. I like Pistons in 6, or maybe 7. I despise Payton, Shaq and Mourning - so it's easy for me to root for Pistons. Plus, Flip is the coach. :)
The funny thing is, the Bulls took the Heat to 6 games and everybody was saying how they would struggle (or lose) against the Nets. They didn't.
The Cavs took the Pistons to 7 games and the same things are being said.
Even if Flip is a lesser coach, he's still good, and with the lineup the Pistons have together, they can almost coach themselves through most situations. The Pistons hold the home-court advantage, and with one of the best home-courts in the league. The Heat rely on Shaq and Wade even more now then they did last year because their supporting cast has gotten worse but those two on the top of their games still make the best duo in the NBA.
Detroit is the better team.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
^ Talha... if you read carefully, my explanation was to put you in peace :) The comparisons have gone bad... yes... thats true.. some call it the Jordan curse. So unless you believe in all that, there is nothing to worry about 'em. Infact, they probably remember that comparison as the highlight of their careers.
Even after home court loss by Pistons, I pick 'em in 7. They are definitely a better team and can win on the road. They just couldn't make that last run to win tonight.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
Bad news Talha and Mr G., it looks like its curtains for Detroit Pissed-ons. I dont see them winning 3 games in row agains Miami. Dwayne Wade has outclassed them and there are rumors of internal conflict b/w the Detroit players and Flip Saunders.
Mavs vs. Suns is an interesting series but Mavs will take care of business vs. the undermanned and tired-looking Phoenix.
Re: Nba 2005/2006
It doesn't look pretty but it never over until the fat lady sings. I am really disappointed from the comments by Pistons players towards Flip. He didn't teach you defense... WTF? All year these guys were asking for offense plays in the book, and now you can't buy a fricking bucket so blame the coach...tsk
Re: Nba 2005/2006
^ ya, that was surprising from this Pistons team.
Now, how about that block on O’Neal by Big Ben… whoooooo
