In a story published in LA Times, Pat Riley admitted to being appraoched by the Lakers owner Jerry Buss. Buss had Pat fly over to LA and discuss the possible rehiring but Pat wanted to see Kobe and Shaq together in LA if he were to return back to the Lakers. Riley said Nuss had already made up the mind that he didnt want Kobe and Shaq together in LA and he was not interested anymore. Ironically, Riley was the first to learn that Shaq was available for trade and the rest we know – Shaq goes to Miami.

Very interesting.

About the finals, i don’t know how Miami did it; they sure had a lot of will. They were a weaker team and like everyone else, i doubted them to win against the Pistons. In the finals, anyone would have picked the Mavs, especially after the first two games, but this HEAT team had this “Big Bowl of trust” thing going on and their was something magical in their run. As Pat put it “I really believe it was our time” … It was interesting to hear in Steven A. interview how Wade and Shaq checked out Dallas’ victory parade website and read the “unworthy team” article… funny how things turn around so quickly. Check this article in Dallas newspaper

   Forget it. San Antonio was a far more worthy opponent. Phoenix, too.     
        Even Memphis wasn't as grisly as Miami.     
        In these Finals, only Dallas beats Dallas.
