Ailing pop star Nazia Hassan’s husband admitted yesterday that his family were at odds with Nazia’s over the custody of their three-year-old son even as the pop star made it clear that she had “no connection with her husband or her husband’s family for the last two years.”
Ishtiaq Baig, speaking to Gulf News from his home in Ain Aauda in Morocco, while appealing for the unseemly controversy to be kept under wraps squarely blamed his mother-in-law for “spoiling our marriage and creating misunderstanding between us.”
He said he and his wife were happily married, and that Nazia was ill with cancer, undergoing chemotherapy in London and therefore, in no position to issue statements. He accused Nazia’s mother of trying to get custody of their son Arez in a bid to be appointed sole trustee of a million dollar trust in the boy’s name.
Baig, who heads Photomagic in Dubai but is now based in Pakistan said he feared the controversy would affect Nazia’s health. The feisty pop star in turn called Gulf News to say that Baig had not visited her in London for the last two years. “He has shown no concern, he has not visited me at all.”
“There has been absolutely no connection between me and him, and his family for the last two years. Neither he nor anyone in his family can claim to speak on my behalf,” Nazia added. She said all her energies and that of her family had been spent in fighting her disease and any allegations of a custody battle or a dispute over money were “elaborate lies.” She also defended her mother whom she claimed was “dearer” to her than anyone else in the world.
This happened to Zeba Bakhtiar as well.But it was a happy ending for her.She got her son back.
I am shocked to hear that Nazia Hassan is not on speaking terms with her husband.I thought they were a happy couple.

I think its the same guy who writes for Daily Jang whose elder brother was some political bigwig in Musharraf's regime. Their sister Aafreen Baig was a renowned TV director who was brutally murdered a while ago.
Why Nazia Marry to such man who is already divorced, because he was very rich, for money only???? or he was a good man at that time and there was misunderstanding between them?????
